Off Topic / Re: The Story of Doctor Who..........
02 January, 2004, 10:28:57 PM
Time Lords have 13 lives, their original plus 12 regenerations. However in the episode "The Five Doctors" the Timel Lords offered to give the Master (who had used them all up) a full set of new lives if he helped them, so there is a way for the Doctor to acquire new ones if need be. William Hartnell is the first Doctor. Paul McGann is the ninth and appears to be generally regarded by the people who do books and websites on the subject as a bona fide incarnation: he appears in definitive lists and novels and suchlike. Peter Cushing on the other hand does not count because his films were all remakes of William Hartnell TV stories so he was only playing the first doctor, not a regeenration in his own right.

Everybody got that? Good!

Or...

Cal: "Do you love me, Judge Cox? I mean really love me?"
Cox: "Oh yes Chief Judge. I would die for you!"
Cal: "Really? That's a very generous offer. Off you go and do it then. You may use my gun."
Cox: "But-"
Cal: "No buts! Either you love me or you don't!"
Cox: [Sighs with resignation.]

Dredd: "Legshot!"
[Shoots fleeing perp in head]
Perp 2: "He's dead! Thought you said legshot!"
Dredd: "So my aim was off."

Kitten McGee.

Wasn't there a Flesh-type story in Eagle about a Tyrannosaur that went around massacreing people and eating cars and suchlike? Does anyone know what that was called? (Or was that another comic? Defintaley not 2000AD though.)

Judge Castillo's last 2000AD appearance was well after The Pit, I think in Cold Comfort prog 1225.

SPOILER!!! (sort of)

On "The savage Amusement" Brisco survived, graduated from the Academy, passed his final assessment, became a judge and then deserted. There's a warrant out for his arrest. A prime candidate for a sequel I think...

Help! / Re: What's Fargo's first name........

In "Tale of the Dead Man" when Dredd passes his final test Morphy says "Fargo would have been proud of you," implying that Fargo is dead by then (2079).

As for the Cal storyline, it's full of contradictions: best to just ignore it. They didn't expect Judge Dredd to last for very long until the '80s so didn't bother making it consistent until after Cal ended.

The name Eustace was only ever given in the DC Dredd. There was the initial E in "the Cal Files" story but this might not stand for Eustace as the DC and 2000AD versions of the character are completely different. In the American comics fargo was evil, in Wagner's stories he is incorruptible, so the American comics are not really anything to go by.

There is no evidence that Solomon was ever chief judge: he only ever appeared in one episode and is not wearing the chief judge's uniform. There are numerous things that point to Goodman taking over immediately after Fargo.

In the Return of Rico remake in prog 951 we see Rico graduating first in his year and getting a trophy while Joe comes second and gets nothing.

Did anyone ever actually complete the game? I got to about level 2 or 3 and then got stuck behind an impregnable locked door. That was a waste of money!

And another one... the end of Supersurf 10 in Oz.  I'm not sure which top ten list that belongs in and I had better not explain why I like it in case I spoil it for someone.  But if you have read it you already know why.
