Events / NICE Bedford Con ?
28 May, 2024, 01:15:10 PM
Just wondered if anyone knew if the NICE Comic Con in Bedford is happening this year? I went last year (Sept 23) and it was excellent, a super list of creators but a small event with a great atmosphere. But the website seems completely dead now so I'm assuming the worst...

Some amazing sketches there. The Boo Cook & Dan Cornwall Dredds are both excellent. Tried to get a Simon Fraser Dante but he was already fully booked out by the time I got to him sadly - maybe next year.
I wonder how many Chimpski's PJ did over the weekend or if our 3 were the lot ? They would make a nice triptych lined up alongside each other!

And finally Chris Weston put an astonishing amount of work into this Blue Blade (from 'The Twelve'). All of these are going straight onto the wall in my 'office'/ man cave.

And this Johnny Red in his hurricane - this was fully painted and much much more than I was expecting. Managed to get Garth Ennis to sign it too.

Got this from PJ, who was good to his word about drawing monkeys to hire 😂 Makes me smile every time I look at it tbh.

A great day out on Saturday, a huge thanks to all the organisers.
Quite chuffed to get this from Matt Brooker (Disraeli) - he took this pic which is in his Instagram feed 😃.
I didn't see any fellow boarders sadly, maybe we need name tags next year !??

Really liked that episode! Ok no real explanation at the end, but in the end it didn't really matter, the tone was just right. A relief to know Who can still be good and keep you gripped. Plenty also to feed the ongoing mysteries around Ruby (& her neighbour).

I assume that the Hachette deal means Rebellion can't publish SinDex (or Dante, or anything else) as Omniboo or Compendium's? It's a shame as my ocd won't allow me to put random Hachette spines on the bookshelf, so will have to wait it out.

We need a V For Vendetta artists edition really. (Also for Watchman & Alan Davis Captain Britain)

Love both V For Vendetta and Essex County (which is by a margin Lemires best work imho).

Black Hammer I loved also until Dean Ormiston stopped on art duties (I have the first 2 OHC), then not so much and I dropped off.

Many thanks re confirming about Garth Ennis, good news. (He's definitely not on the list of guests on the lawlesscomiccon website which is where I was looking ?)

Does anyone know if Garth Ennis is going to Lawless this year? He's not on the list but I swear I read somewhere a few weeks ago that he was coming? Very possibly I was hallucinating. (I just don't want to cart some of his books along to hopefully be signed if he is not going to there).

Saw The Men They Couldn't Hang at the weekend on their 40th Anniversary tour. Still an excellent live band 👍🏼

BTW Fatale is coming out as a single issue softback Compendium collection at the end of July (656 pages of Brubaker/Phillips goodness for £36 via awesomebooks). Hope their other stuff will be released in a similar format :)

I already have one of your pages on my wall PJ, but you may well see me in your queue asking for a Noam Chimpsky  :D
