As per The Watcher's suggestion, I think printing the current run of Stronts in 2 big 200 page plus TBPs sounds like a fantastic idea. I'd definitely buy them.

It doesn't bother me a bit that the stories are chronologically all over the place. I just want more Stronty graphic novels, damn it!

I'm still waiting for the Inferno EE.

We've had Harlem Heroes, so why no Inferno? I remember loving it as a kid.

Suggestions / Why no Strondium Dog Agency Files 5?
23 January, 2008, 03:47:43 AM
I'd love to see a Strontium Dog Agency files #5, containing all the reboot stories from the last few years.

There's certainly enough material for a nice meaty volume. Even without 'The Glum Affair' (as we don't know the final page count yet), there's still 348 pages of new story: -

Kreeler Conspiracy Part 1, 8 episodes (Progs 1174 to 1180), 84 pages

Kreeler Conspiracy Part 2, 5 episodes (Progs 1195 to 1199), 30 pages.

Roadhouse 8 episodes (Progs 1300 to 1307), 54 pages.

The Tax Dodge 9 episodes (Progs 1350 to 1358), 60 pages.

The Headly Foot Job 4 episodes (Progs 1400 to 1403), 24 pages.

Traitor to his Kind 10 episodes (Progs 1406 to 1415), 60 pages.

Shaggy Dog Story 5 episodes (Progs 1469 to 1472), 36 pages.

The Glum Affair 4+ episodes (Progs 1567 to 1569) 24 pages.

Given that it would mostly be in colour, I'd certainly have no objection to paying more for it than the previous black and white files.

Whoops, just realised my last post should have been in the prog 1569 thread.

Still haven't received 1570 yet.

Fantastic prog. Well, they have all been this year so far.

The art and writing is top notch in every story.

Not a weak story among the lot. Especially loving Shakara & Kingdom. Please don't let the Flint and Elson droids be snatched by the Yanks.

My only minor gripe with this prog is in the use of the phrase "...undead cowboys and native Americans", in the text box in the first panel of this prog's Stickleback. This seems really jarring, especially in a period piece like Stickleback and smacks of political correctness run amok.

I mean come on, it should be "undead cowboys and indians (or "injuns" if you prefer). I mean who the f#ck actually says "native Americans"!?

News / Re: 2000 AD GOES DIGITAL!............
08 December, 2007, 07:37:34 AM
Hmm.....not into digital downloads of books or comics. Far prefer tradtitional paper. The 3 main places I usually read my prog are in bed, on the bus to work and on the loo. A digital download is sod all use there.

Sorry, but lugging my desktop PC into the bathroom when I want to read the prog while doing a big job is not an option.

Neither do I think carrying my desktop PC on the bus with me to read a digital prog on the way to work a good idea. Ditto in bed.

I have no interest in reading the prog on the tiny screen of my mobile either!

Probably not good from a business standpoint either, as free pirate downloads will no doubt be available within a day or two of release.

Blast, the Future Shop is still listing it as out of stock! Did it sell out very quickly, or just hasn't come in yet?

Prog / Re: Prog 1499 shocker!

Cover: Bleh!

Dredd: Nice to see Pete Doherty back on Dredd art duties, although somebody needs to tell him that Judges no longer carry the MKI Lawgiver, and haven't done for several years. Also, as others have mentioned, he drew Rico looking as old as Dredd. As for the story, I just thought it didn't really make sense beacause of the timing. Rico has the perp in sight and in is in hot pursuit on his Lawmaster, yet Dredd still has time to go to 3 different locations, beat up and interrorgate several perps and yet despite the time needed for this investigative work,  still gets to the bad guy before Rico.......bleh again!

Future Shock: Great story and art. Best thing i this prog.

Red Seas: Not a bad ending to what has otherwise been a lacklustre tale. I liked seeing the H.G. Wells type martians.

Kipling: Normally I like this, but this episode was a bit unclear about a few points. What where those pink disks that were mentioned once and then promptly forgotten about. And what about the Atheist thingie, It didn't really seem clear what happened to it. there is a brief mention of handcuffs, but nothing is shown or mentioned. Seemed like they tried to cram too much into the ending.

News / Re: TOM FRAME - OUR DROID............
06 August, 2006, 05:28:53 PM
Only just caught this sad news. Tom's work was always first class and he'll definitely be missed.

Although not as much in the limelight as the art and script droids, his contribution to 2000AD over a quarter of a century was right up there with the other greats such as Wagner, Mills, Bolland, Ezquerra, Grant, Moore etc.

RIP Tom.

General / Dredd: New Year Is Cancelled - Prog 146
14 July, 2006, 07:32:08 PM
Just wondering was there ever any follow-up story about little Albert Sherman, the genius kid who wanted to be King of Meg City 1, from the Dredd story 'New Year Is Cancelled' in prog 146?

The last we see of Albert, he's being inducted into the Academy of Law to begin training and Dredd is predicting that some day Albert's brains will be an asset to the force.

Great EE. The only story I've read before was Wynter.

The Corps: Fantastic, but should have been a few episodes longer. I'd love to see an ongoing series about these military space Judge special squads.

Maelstrom: Good, but is a bit confusing in places and does require a few read-throughs and some back-tracking to figure out what is going on at times. Definitely worth making the effort though IMO. Great art as well. Again, as with The Corps, I wouldn't mind seeing a follow up story.

Wynter: Great art and story, although there's probably not too much that can be done with the story or setting, which maybe why he was never bought back?

Conclusion: Gimme more Space Judge stories!!!

Cover: Didn't we have a very similar cover recently? Too lazy to search through the site to check. Anyway, doesn't really do anything for me or grab one's attention.

Dredd: Strong first episode with both good writing and art. Paul Marshal is one of my favorite of the newer generation of artists. I'd love to see him (and Richard Elson as well) being given more work on Dredd. Although in a way, it's a bit weird to see Citizen Snork being drawn by anyone but Ron Smith. I wonder how Ron is keeping? He must be of fairly advanced age by now. Still, I'd like to see him drawing for 2000AD again, if he's still up for it.

Future Shocks: A little bit of confusion from the last panel of the penultimate page onwards meant I had to rread it a few times, but overall a pretty good effort.

Go Machine: Great first episode. Looking forward to seeing how this develops. Richard Elson's art is great (as always).

Red Seas: Skimmed through it. Really not my thing. Hope it's ending soon.

Prog / Re: 1495 - R.I.P. V.C.s?

Best thing in the prog was definitely London Falling. The ending was great, didn't see it coming at all. More please.

VCs was pretty good this week. I hope it's really not the end. I'd like to see it back again, perhaps after a break of a year or two and with a different art droid. Not saying the art is bad, just not perhaps the best style for a future war strip.

Red Seas has it's moments I guess, it's just not really my cup of tea. Perhaps a change of art droid would help? The style of the story seems especially suited to the art droid that usually draws Dante.

Dredd was good. I'd been wondering if we'd ever get a follow-up story about the beasty in the park.

Hope we get a new Strontium Dog story soon. I guess Ezquerra's been busy working on origins though.
