I suppose my picking away at this has less to do with GFD's actual contribution and more to do with Pat Mills' assertion that it's disrespectful to GFD for other writers to work in the Rogue Trooper universe whilst simultaneously asserting that Dredd is a "house character" because of the multiple hands involved the strip's development in the early days.

If your point is that Pat Mills, much as we love him, is inconsistent in his arguments, then you've got a long, long thread ahead of you.

Daredevil: Woman Without Fear #3 (Zdarsky, de Latorre, Blee, Cowles). More of the Devil's Reign event, spinning off from the end of the last Daredevil run. This sees Elektra facing off against Kraven the Hunter. This seems like an odd choice of foe for Elektra, and I'm not sure why Zdarsky decided that the Hand would use him as a hitman. In any case, events from Devil's Reign #5 cause a nice emotional finale and there's a big reveal at the end. All very entertaining.

That's a new story, isn't it? He's already got me to shell out for Arkwright Integral, I'm not sure I can justify a new edition!

I had a go at one of the Dark Souls games a while ago. It wasn't for me. Storyline and character is a big thing for me in RPGs, and it doesn't really do them. The difficulty also meant that I couldn't just pick it up and play it, which doesn't suit the way I can play games at the moment. Elden Ring just looks like more of the same from what I've read.

would I be wrong asking for Friday Rogue Trooper to be collected? I really liked the War Machine TPB and I've seen some Ron Smith Friday artwork that makes me want to read the rest.

The Ron Smith art is as nice as you'd expect, but he wasn't really a great fit for the strip and all the Fleisher-scripted stuff is… not great, putting it mildly. ISTR they gave Mark Millar a go at some point, and that was, well, pretty much what you'd expect from 2000AD-era Mark Millar.

The only Millar RT I remember is the one about aliens torturing POWs that appeared in a sci-fi special (which felt more like a Bad Company story than RT). It's collected in one of the Rogue Trooper phone books.

It's not an enjoyable read.

The French Dispatch. You could take any frame from this and it would be instantly recognisable as a Wes Anderson film. Whether that's good or bad. It's an anthology film with a number of short films set around reporters in a fictitious French city. The cast is absolutely incredible, but only some of the films work. The best might be the short cycling film with Owen Wilson, which serves as an introduction to the location. Its a slight piece, but works well. Jeffrey Wright's piece about a police chef is also very entertaining. The del Toro, Seydoux and Brody piece about an artist is good, but is overlong (in a film that is pretty short). I didn't enjoy the McDormand one about student politics. It felt pointless (like the politics). A middling Anderson film, I'd say.

You can argue about the West's conduct on various issues, but taking a "neutral" stance when civilians are being shelled, starved and over a million people are forced to become refugees is abhorrent.
