2000AD Online

Britain?s premier sci-fi comic 2000 AD, in association with leading pen manufacturer STABILO, is looking for the next generation of comic artists, and so is launching a nationwide competition to find the best new talent in the country.

The brief is simple ? design a new villain for future lawman Judge Dredd. If you?re familiar with the Mega-City cop?s adventures in 2000 AD every week, then you?ll know he?s faced a great number of foes in his twenty-eight-year history, such as Judge Death, Mean Machine Angel and the assassin Orlok, amongst all manner of aliens, cyborgs and mutants. But now we want you to come up with a brandnew nemesis that will test Dredd to the limit!

There are two age groups ? 12-18 and 18+ ? and the entries should be a fulllength image of the character, with further sketches if necessary, plus a fifty-word profile explaining who he/she/it is. Stretch your imaginations and come up with an original, visually intriguing baddie that immediately jumps off the page and who you?d love to see battling Dredd in their own story?

?because that?s not all. The twenty finalists (10 from each group) that are picked by 2000 AD will win a whole host of STABILO drawing products before their character designs are judged by another panel to determine the two overall winners (one from each group). These lucky artists will have a specially commissioned Judge Dredd story written for them by John Wagner featuring their villain, and will receive expert tutelage and advice from professional creators in how to draw a five-page comic strip. The stories will be scanned, lettered and printed in a 2000 AD Winter Special, also featuring stories written and drawn by the UK?s emerging new talent.

If you?ve always dreamed of becoming a comic-book artist, now?s your chance to be part of the Comic of Tomorrow?s future!

Always artists.....still Dredd vs the Stick-Man might carry some appeal...

Or the one we came up with on Saturday night: Holly Wood, a porn actress who constantly appears to be about to break the law but actually never does...

Carlsborg Expert

Bart and I were looking at this and a wise women told us there was nothing said about copyright.

she further added that the sequence of events after you inputed your design could leave you without any contractual rights to that villian.

Be careful or be a kid who the ad may be aimed at more!

Bolt-01

WoD, you come up with an Idea and I'll scribble it for you....

I'm thinking something that fires laser beams from it's eyes would be good.

At last, the time has come for a new Dark Judge armed with a shield and phosphorus grenades.

You should enter this, Gordon.  I think you might be in with a chance.

Problem with this compo is that over the years, Dredd's pretty much faced eveything.

janus stark

dudly wins
thats one scary villian
is he a mutant????

Tiplodocus

Well, I think I've got an idea* that might be quite fun and, though I'm no artist, I'm willing to have a go.

I'm just checking with our absent Oracle as to whether or not it is an original idea before I start scribbling.

* a clean idea as well.
Be excellent to each other. And party on!

Just thought I'd remind folks of this.

My effort is suitably shoddy.

Met up with a buddy tonight-he's gonna throw me some ideas to draw

Floyd-the-k

Pure evil, indestructible, deceptive and racist, has he met his match in Dredd?
