Surely its time that tech division came up with a way to get rid of the radiation and pollution that has screwed up planet earth.  Less mutants, more space... could even have a 'land grab' race from the west wall...  Must be less hassle then colonising another planet...   bugs that eat radiation ?...alien tech ?

Proudhuff

They can't even fix Weather control, I imagine that techies are in short supply, mind you why not train the millions of Unemployed?

Here's an other, Anyone know what is the current population of the Meg? after each mass slaughter: Apo'War, City of the dead, Robot rebelion, bolck wars etc not only should they be running out of Judges but also citizens!

When are those big robot Judges coming back? after all they saved the day against the Alien swarm.

Whatever happen to the central computer Ernie, or whatever it was called?

AND why no nano-technology(sp?)

clean up the planet...need tech to get rid of radiation...re-populate the megs...then nuke em again...yeaaaaaa

Smiley

re-populate the megs...then nuke em again

If Strontium Dog is in Dredd continuity (I'd prefer it wasn't) then that's just the sort of thing that happens, including the reclamation bit e.g. the Antarctic rainforest in Outlaw.

Darn Tootin'. Messed up stuff makes for better stories.

current population of the Meg?

Dunno.

not only should they be running out of Judges but also citizens! When are those big robot Judges coming back? after all they saved the day against the Alien swarm.

In Dead Ringer, a load of Judges got seconded from the spaceships (e.g Justice 1 and The McGruder) to make up numbers on the street, and were replaced with Mechanismo.

Whatever happen to the central computer Ernie?

Barney is probably still going.

why no nano-technology?

Because it's rubbish :)

Barney went mad and turned himself off.

Nice Tom

Here's an idea: How about Mega City TWO develops cleanup technology? We haven't heard anything from them lately, they could be doing absolutely anything over there.

Misanthrope

I think the population of th Meg is about 400 million. And the mechanismo(sp?) robots are being used as back up on the justice department's space division.
Did you know Christ was a werewolf?

meg cleans the planet?

Plant some water reeds, thats the ticket. Great for cleaning up pollution so they are.

Theres not near enough horticulture in 2000. A multi-parter featuring some nice ponds and rushes and stuff, is what we want. It could feature my sunflowers too or bits of other readers gardens.

Oh dear, I have been out in the sun too long.

They might be, if they hadn't all been nuked to Hell during Judgement Day...

Anyway, I thought the site of Mega City Two was being reclaimed by Hondo Cit. What happened to that? Just another storyline that petered out?

When I was writing the JDRPG Rulebook, I estimated that there were about 250,000 judges and 360-70 million citizens by 2124-5. The comic - never one for tight continuity - just settles for the 400 million+ mark. Desn't matter either way, really, as long as the stories continue to be good :)

Barney is 'alive' and well circa 1991 [comic date]; he oversaw the referendum on the continuation of the judges' right to govern MC-1. I don't think Barney has been seen since, however...

Trout

I seem to recall a Daily Star Dredd where the judge numbers were set at a paltry 60,000, possibly with poor arithmetic.

Ron Smith-drawn, with Dredd kicking serious butt.
Another judge uttered a line to the effect, "With him around, who needs the other 59,000 of us?"

John Caliber

That number's wayyy too low; I thought that 250,000 was pushing it. The judges would get slaughtered at such low numbers. The latter number equates 1 judge per 1600 citizens, which is a frightening prospect if another Block Mania ever broke out... if it was the real world, that is... which it isn't :)

All the same, it's difficult to see how MC-1 is supposed to be the most crime-ridden city on Earth if so few judges can keep it under nominal control? I'd reckon that Cuidad Barranquilla is more dangerous per square mile.
