Hey Funt Solo. This Project is amazing! Congratulations.
I found it because I was looking for some clarity on Judge Corey. I've been reading Volume 1 of the Judge Anderson Psi Files (and really enjoying re-acquainting myself with these early stories (so dark!)).
In that book Corey appears in Helios, then Leviathan's Farewell (which moved me as much as it did first time I read it all this years ago), but then (confusingly) in Triad (part 7).
I've been trying to work out the publication order, and whether it was just ordered incorrectly in the Psi Files collection. Or whether Alan Grant just forgot that he'd killed her off! Because Leviathan's Farewell is from a SF Special it's hard to reconstruct the order (well it is for me). I could dig out the progs and find the cover dates etc, but I'm not sure this idle pondering warrants it.
Does anyone remember thinking she'd magically come back from the dead when they first read these?
Aaanyway, she's got at least one appearance missing from your table, not that I'm criticising. As I say, I'm extremely impressed with the database!

Hi DrJomster. Do you mean from Big Finish? The point is that none of the 2000ad dramas are available from Big Finish directly, either on cd or download.
I may have to subscribe to audiobooks as you suggested Eamonn. It's a bit frustrating that it's bed top so a subscription and only get 2 a month. If rather be able to just buy the downloads. Ho hum.

In an epic re-read of past progs I was reminded of the existence of the Big Finish dramas. I've never heard them and would really love to. They're not available from Big Finish directly. Does anyone know if these are available anywhere? It seems that even finding the CDs on eBay is rare.

Hey hey Grobbendonk I sent you a PM but I was just wondering if you still had a copy of the FCBD prog available. No sign of a digital code I'm afraid.

Hey, yes - got your message. Still have both spares... will pop one in the post ASAP - though I'm away till Sunday now so will be Tuesday (Due to bank holidays)

If anyone still needs one...

I loved this edition! Goes without saying it was the best of the bunch (again). And even better... I got to read it on paper!

Full Story:
After never getting a single copy in years gone by... I ended up with THREE this year.

Visited Excelsior in Bristol (1st through the door, no queue) and picked one up. Then headed to Forbidden Planet (where there had been queues earlier but none by 11am when I got there) where I got one in my random bag.

1st good deed: my girlfriend overheard a father sadly saying to his girls "I'm very happy you got your Scooby Doo it makes up for not getting my 2000 AD I suppose, sigh". She told me and we handed over a copy! Happy comics reader!

And then for some reason I also ordered one from Disposable Heroes, which arrived fast and perfect.

So now I have 2 - one of them bagged and boarded.

I'm happy to give at least one of these up to the needy. If I can find a digital version (I don't tend to keep issues these days, only bigger books) I'll give up both paper ones.

So...

First person to send me their address and request it gets the un-bagged copy. If you provide me with a link to get a digital copy you can have the bagged copy!

I'm nice like that.

Prog / Prog 578!!!
14 March, 2015, 08:42:19 PM
Just needed a place to express my utter joy at reaching Prog 578 in my epic read-through from #1!
This prog was the one that (aged 12) got me finally hooked on Thrill-Power. I'd been picking up the odd copy for a couple of years but somehow managed to avoid being sucked in.
The physical memory that washed over me as I read it, of sitting in my Aunt's window seat, eating Skittles and absolutely loving it to death! Even the letters and readers art were so familiar! A formative experience indeed!
As for the Prog - Bad Company II, Tales from the Doghouse (featuring Back-To-Front Jones), Judge Dredd: Full Mental Jacket, and ABC Warriors (with stunning Bisley b/w art). Is it just nostalgia or was this an utterly classic Prog and an example of 2000AD at its best?

I haven't been on this board for quite a while, and just popped back to see what everyone else thought of Dark Justice. Glad it wasn't just me that found it underwhelming. It wasn't that I disliked it, just that I never felt the threat was real. I couldn't shake the nagging feeling that if the Justice Department knew the Dark Judges were on that ship... why didn't they simply nuke it? Its not like the human death-toll would end up much different.
There was a moment in this last episode where I thought Anderson was going to buy it. Now that would have been awesome! Don't get me wrong, she's always been my 2nd favourite Judge, but I do seem to have a fetish for killing off beloved characters!  :-[ And the whole story would have instantly made sense to me.
Bah, I dunno, I remain unconvinced by the whole story. Lovely to look at though it was!
Once again I'm thinking I need to go back and read the whole lot in one sitting to get a better feel for it. Once again I probably won't. Though if I do, I'll probably find a very good reason why they didn't blow it out of space at the beginning.....
Grumbling aside, I'm loving the Prog at the moment.

Ah yes. Sooner or Later. I'm struggling with that. Glad its usually only one page. I remember Metalzoic from first time round. I think it was fairly incomprehensible. Its starting soon in my re-read, so we'll see.

I keep seeing people saying they skip strips they don't enjoy. I find it odd. Of course everyone is welcome to consume the Prog in any way they see fit. But I always read the whole edition even when a story is lost on me. Case in point, in my epic re-read from Prog 1 I'm heading into the 480s and yes I read every single episode of Bad City Blue!
Maybe I'm just a masochist? Bloody glad its over with though!

Those digital and subs hipsters are missing out big time,  ;)

I get my digital copy by monthly subscription to via Clickwheel and sometimes like today it doesn't arrive on site till late afternoon on the Wednesday. The frustration reminds me of days of yore when I'd get to my local thrill merchant late, find them sold out and have to search far and wide for my fix.

Cover is a tad shiny for my liking, but pretty nonetheless.

I'm feeling a familiar lack of interest as I read Stickleback. I just don't get it. Its pretty, but who are these people and why should I care? I now can't remember which bits I fail to understand because I was a late comer to this series, and which bits I fail to understand because I find it so hard to follow.

Blimey Greysuit is a bit grim ain't it? Loving how cold and businesslike the wet job is. This thrill is growing on me.

For my feelings on The Grievous Journey of Ichabod Azrael and the Dead Left in His Wake see Stickleback.

Kingdom is great fun though. Straight ahead action silliness. Which feels like a blessed relief after slogging through TGJOIAATDLIHW going, "who's that?", "why are they doing that?" "what?" etc.

I've gone back to reading Judge Dredd last. And a fine icing on the thrillcake it is :) Nothing more to be said that hasn't already. Art and words just bloody awesome!

I realise half of the above sounds extremely negative. But I'm very much enjoying the prog at the moment - even the two strips I'm struggling with look gorgeous. And I kind of blame myself for my negative response to them. I think I must have faulty memory circuits or something - so maybe a re-read will benefit me at the end of their runs. Once I've got through all the back progs that is. Because of my nice new tablet I'm reading 5 or more a week - currently in the #470s - which when I think about it may be why I'm struggling to keep up with current thrills. Is this a sign of thrill-receptor burnout?  :-*

Stunning cover. And I think I like the new layout, it'll take a few weeks to bed in I guess.

What a great opening for Judge Dredd. I feel like a teen again! This is awesome Dredd! Exciting, detailed, funny, satirical and gorgeous to look at.

I wasn't a huge fan of Stickleback, and having missed the 1st outing found it very befuddling. But this 1st episode has got me hooked in already! And I'm finding the gorgeous art easier to navigate this time too.

A nice little article on jumping on Progs, but for me it mainly served to make me miss the posters!

I also missed all the previous Kingdom - but I caught up with the free .pdf and really enjoyed that taster. This new one doesn't disappoint! The pacing is wonderful, so much delivered in so few words. And again, beautiful artwork.

I think I've had three jumping on Progs since I saw the error of my ways and re-subscribed and this is far and away the best. If I was new to 2000AD this would have me hooked from cover to cover. Really showcases the diversity and talent on offer.

I'm a very happy Squaxx dek Thargo this evening  :D
