Looking for the 2000ad Promo flyer , this was sent out to the newsagents a few weeks before 2000ad first published ....
I cannot find an image , but it has Dan Dare on the front and the free gifts on the back ...all in colour ...
I will pay a cracking price for it .... or even trade artwork for it ....
bump
Now you're just dreaming up memorabilia dale... ;) x
Blimey
Im curious to see one of these, as well. 2000ad curio's are my weakness.
Didnt some Newb post, last year, that he had one of these, but he never followed up on his promise of posting photo's?
I think a mate at work might have an image of it...
Still Looking .... if i remember its about a5 in size and has the new Dan Dare on the front with a blue background ....
hello
I'm the person who was on here last year asking if anyone knew about it as I have one in my collection.
I have not been able to scan it yet.
I bought it last year for £60.
Have not found any since.
PS I will try and post some images on here next weekend if my step father's digi camera works.
I thought dale I had emailed some images to you?

I did get some images , but lost the email ....
Looking to pay £150 + for a decent item ...
would be nice to see that, and to keep our eyes open for... :o
I have now taken photos of promo but they are too big to upload for reply.
What do I now have to do to make them 'uploadable'?

Either modify them with some photo editing software, or get yourself an account on a photo hosting site.
Yup! Photoshop or paint will do the job!
Thanks for answers
Um...how do I use Photshop to do this? :-[
At last! Somebody worse than me, ;)
I dont know about that new fangled fotoshop thingy, but i use 'paint' to resize images. I guess you can use any of these standard gizmo's to resize stuff.
Just click on the image, and go to the edit function. Simples.
Good luck!
Paint? :-[ :-[
Yes, about 5 litres should do the trick.
What I'm trying to say is that if you want to see images of the promo please get in touch and I will email them to you or maybe you can put them up on here because I don't know how to do it!!!
If you're finding Paint and Photoshop a pain, try Google's Picasa http://picasa.google.com/
Or for even less hassle, set up a Flickr account (I think you need a Yahoo sign on) and then upload the photo there and link us...
Sent through by Paul .... this is what i am looking for ..

That's bloody amazing! :D
Great for boys... Great for dads, too!
Nice to finally get to see this - great stuff.
Thats great, I never seen or heard of this before. I have scans of the one for Scream, and I have somewhere the newsagents promo poster for Toxic, but I havnt seen it in a while.
Great find!
Nice find.
I love that Dan Dare image. It was used for the adverts promoting 2000AD in IPC comics and is responsible for me wanting to buy my prog 1. Guess the superhero look appealed to me.
Wow that is a fantastic piece of memorabilia. I'm curious as to who people think did the Dan Dare images. The from piece (Dan diving type thing) I can well see as Bellardinelli, the head shot however I'm less convinced?
still looking for a nice example ......
Many thanks Dale for loading them up onto the site.
I found it on ebay by accident whilst looking at a collection of 2000ads for sale.
The seller originally wanted £100 for it but in the end I paid £60.
I am surprised there is not a mention of it on 'barney'?
That biotronic sticker figure looks like it might be early Kevin O'Neill.
The cover's Bellardinelli, but the interior is a copy that's been completely redrawn, changing the mouth and cheek, but is essentially a trace. Definately not Bellardinelli's hand there, but possibly O'Neill again.
Possibly Doug Church, he did a lot of revision and touch up to artwork, and he was on 2000ad then.
If these were given out to Newsagents, then its doubtful many would have survived. Still, its often suprising what gets saved over the years, and then ends up on places like E-bay.
@ charleswalter1860, did the person you bought your copy from say how he came by it?
bump ...still looking for flyer ...would trade Original art for one ...
Hello Judge Jack
He also sent me the receipt from the comic shop he bought it from though without looking for it I cannot remember the name of that shop.
If you want me to look for it I will go through my boxes?

charleswalter1860 - it all helps, as they say. Did they ever say how they had come by this item?
As a piece of (what would be seen as) throwaway promotional 'bumpf' i suspect not many of these would have survived til the present day. Thus making this (potentially) very rare now.
How many K's will Dale have to offer now, to snag your copy? ;)
Thanks for the reply.
As you say many must have been thrown away but they must have been very confident/keen about their product to of gone to all the effort of distributing a 'card' promo or was that the norm?
It was the first time I had ever seen or heard about this promo.
I always thought the IPC promos were the pink(?) pages in their other publications that the newsagents received or was that DC Tom?
I think Dale is looking for a nm copy as mine is more f/vf.
Should I send barney a copy?
Out of interest, I see some of the artwork from the promo (Dan Dare) was used in the adverts that featured in other IPC comics.
Got a few of these adverts, but none i have feature this.

*Caught this particular image on Henry Flint's Twitter page.
Still looking for one ...... out of interest i did own one of these , but cannot find my copy ..... i have gone through 10 of thousand of my comics to find it .... quicker just to buy another ..
What ipc publication/comic was that from Judge Jack please?
That particular image was, i believe, from a issue of Buster.
Ta very much.
Not one I had seen before.

No, thats not the one Dales looking for, but interesting to note that it went for just over 33 quid.
Unreal.... :-\
I put 30 on it, and I thought I was being mental. It just goes to show you, I'm not the most crazy person (for a change).
Just seems incredibily pricey, that.
I bought the very same promo/advert (it came out of an issue of Battle, if memory serves) late last year, for a couple of quid.
And now i cant seem to find where i stored it....
Bump....because I'm worth it!
