Welcome! you just wait for an eventual accept/or decline and then are able to send any further pieces I'm afraid.

Might as well use this for a CBR interview with John Wagner:

Oh wow, I am amazed we won - such a strong field!!

I'll put this down to Jon's work on this as my side didn't really get shown off to its full (yet) and he nailed everything there.

General / Moose Harris re-reads 2000AD
01 August, 2012, 04:59:19 AM
New Model Army and Damned bassist Moose Harris has started re-reading 2000AD and is blogging about it:

QuoteI've been having a very long and involved email discourse with Garth Ennis about a couple of projects we're both involved with. We've mainly been comparing notes on Battle Picture Weekly, but in the last few days the focus has shifted onto 2000AD, specifically the first 520 progs that were mostly printed on bog roll.

Garth's got a stellar memory and can recall tiny details of strips from as long as thirty-five years ago, stuff that has long-since fallen out of my head. He's got a theory that 2000AD changed fundamentally when it went onto higher quality paper and that those first 10 years' worth represent the classic run of the comic's long history.

It's been a fun exchange of opinions, and has made me yearn for those old progs, coincidentally the only ones I kept from my once 1700-strong collection when I moved house last year. So, I've decided to re-read those 520 progs, and to share a few of my favourite moments along the way. Doubtless it'll take me a long time to complete, but I'll have fun trying.

As his Seven Penny Nightmare site demonstrates he knows his comicy onions and he is a long-standing member of the forum (although he hasn't posted recently, he still lurks from time-to-time - decloak and take a bow), so it is already packed with interesting detail.

Anyway dive in:

There was a clear message of support in the ceremony for the NHS, and on a completely unrelated note, most conservatives hated it.

As the tributes to the hard-working man, the NHS and then the CND logo appeared (and Jerusalem getting so heavily featured*) I knew someone on the right would get their panties in a knot, but to have the "Nazi scandal" Tory MP dive in with both feet was a treat I couldn't have predicted.

* Who knew a Socialist hymn would be so heartily embraced by the Tories too?

Looks like the Dredd film is already inspiring everyone, impressive turnout as always. The scores on the doors:

1. Darren Stephens - who wouldn't want to see Karl Urban vs the Howler on the big screen?

2. Uncle Fester - lovely loose lines

3. BlueMeanie - you know it might just work (well if Vinnie Jones can play the Juggernaut, bitch)

HM: Shark2, although I suppose it'd never work as a film, pity.

As this seems like a general 2000AD tattoos thread have a look at this, it takes a moment for your mind to grasp the scale of it and then...  :o :

It does kind of sound like someone has come up with another use for Thanos because it seems he is going to be the main villain for the second Avengers movie and probably a stumulus for the Guardian of the Galaxy flick so plans are probably changing daily as they line everything up (and it seems Marvel have other plans for Mr Elson):

QuoteThanos' creator Jim Starlin, though adamantly scotching any talk of starting a lawsuit against Marvel Comics (the only creator to win one of those of late was Stan Lee) has been making it clear that he created Thanos before coming to Marvel Comics. And has proclaimed his displeasure with Marvel over using his creations in movies and comics without financial recompense.

Could this be an issue? Or did writer Joe Keatinge take a dump on Isaac Perlmutter's copy of the Wall Street Journal?

UPDATE: Joe Keatinge doesn't reply to emails but Steve Wacker tweets;

QuoteFor those interested, plans have indeed changed on Thanos. Nothing too dramatic, we just jumped the gun a bit. Joe Keatinge and Rich Elson both have projects coming up in the Spidey office that we'll be announcing soon. They're bloody great!
