...the Irish government think that sending all drunk people out of pubs at the same (early) time will improve the problem of angry drunk people on the streets.
QuoteBut my greatest pain in life is that I will never be able to see myself perform live."
Oaf. I thnk i could dream up some far, far greater pains for him if he'd ever like to call round and put his life into perspective.

I always liked 'you're well funtwicked up the cramner, hubbercrud' from Droid Life. How about 'Gashtard'?

I'll go with

1. Dredd
2. Nemesis
3. Zenith
4. Slaine (only till the end of the Horned God, mind you)
5. BAD Company

And I'll sprinkle that list with lashings of Tribal Memories and Killing Time.

'If you look hard enough'?
Man, you don't have to look THAT hard to see them. I was also fairly taken aback by the level of graphic violence - like Rorschach, Snyder doesn't compromise, even in the face of box-office armageddon.

As for the plot change, I believe it
was actually a more sensible ending than Moore's if not quite as visually spectacular Could have done with explaining why Rorschach chose the New Frontiersman to send his memoirs to, as well as Manhattan's final words to Veidt, but no harm done I suppose.
Another nice bit of soundtrack inspiration -
'All along the Watchtower' played at the exact point it's quoted in the graphic novel. Nice work
Am I the first here to have seen it? I don't believe it!
Anway I got a free ticket to a preview showing.
I really enjoyed it. It sticks to the book about as much as a film possibly could - there's one fairly huge difference but i won't ruin it - and the acting is great.
What I really hadn't expected was the soundtrack - I thought it would just be the stuff on the clips but actually is a Scorcesily good trawl through the annals of classic rock and pop.

I'm expecting lots of people to disagree with me but i don't care. It was never going to be as detailed as the graphic novel, but in my opinion they couldn't have done a better job of it.

...which reminds me of another nice-ish Dredd comment - 'Son... you ARE the fraternity.'

Legend! Hopefully they had heard of you, and the next time won't be a DeMarco situation - 'You probably haven't heard of me'

QuoteFar from being IPDC Fleetson's answer to Crisis on Infinite Earths, 'War in Heaven' is lazy, self-indulgent wank.

So you're saying it's IPC/Fleetway's answer to Crisis on Infinite Earths?   ;)

I'm trying to read Crisis on Infinite Earths at the moment and finding it intensely dull. Have to say I don't know much about the DC Universe or Multiverse or whatever anyway, but i much preferred Zenith 3 and I loved phase 4

Quoteim with Jim on this one, im ashamed to say Ive even used the whole speech before

Classic! What was the situation?
Inferno had its flaws but i didn't mind it; I much preferred it to Judgement Day and thought Dredd's dialogue was pretty much spot on. (Pedant's corner: The quote was 'I've got my plan right here.')

Anyway, I'm a sucker for the occasional nice Dredd comments:

'Merry Christmas, Chief Judge'.

'Shall we say five years?' (What a polite, charming old bastard, checking the perp's opinion on his cube sentence.

(In response to the mother who has just shot her son talking about how the city traps people like rats in a cage) 'I know, citizen. I know.'

The whole dialogue between Dredd in the bath and the two immigrants breaking into his apartment: 'New in the city, are you?... Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm having a bath.'

To Chopper: 'Now get out there and do it for Mega City One!'

Suggestions / Re: Put Dredd back in the centre pages
02 March, 2009, 12:52:07 PM
Think I suggested something simliar here years ago. Jock responded, saying he'd been making an effort to do double-page splash Dredd pages, but they stil work better in the centre pages. Some boarders said the last pages of Dredd should be the centre pages for a cinematic climax.

i remember a Grant Morrison Future Shock, about a letter that somehow ended up in space and caused a war, that shamelessly ripped  off the Hitch Hiker's Guide almost word-for-word. Still, he hasn't done too badly out of it

QuoteWhat the hell - start the weekend a day early and tell your boss I said it was OK. What's s/he going to do? Fire me?

Well, I can't take the day off so I'll just start drinking today and continue till Sunday. Deal?
