I'm current reading the SD novel 'Among the Missing' by Matt Smith and loving every minute

My point here, was that I would enjoy SD even at the hands of other creators, if done well. Smith/Flint SD, for example...

I've only been reading 2000ad for a few years, but Strontium Dog has become my favorite comic (not just my favorite 2000ad strip, my favorite comic period).

I'm current reading the SD novel 'Among the Missing' by Matt Smith and loving every minute; the neat thing being my mind creates the images for the story and all I see are Carlos' characters, environments and art. It will always be Carlos who comes to mind, no matter what.

With that said, I do want more Strontium Dog with Alpha. More glowing eyes, more mutants, more space western. I hope we haven't seen the last of SD.

My obvious creator vote would be Wagner and MacNeil. I think Henry Flint would be a top pick as well.

I've just been into Forbidden Planet in London and picked up a leaflet advertising a signing of a Villains Takeover Special, with an image of all the bad guys from 2000AD and the 2000AD logo.

This seems to be a one-off comic, but I've heard nothing about it. Does anyone know anything?

It's happening on Saturday 4th May between 1pm - 2pm.

Tarantino

A bunch of us are going to meet up to get things signed and/or go for a drink (mostly the drink, to be honest).  Copied from farcebook:

"It's Free Comic Book Day and also 99p 2000AD Day this year.
At the moment, there is only one signing happening and it's at Forbidden Planet and it has Matt Smith (Tharg) and Greg Staples signing the Villains Special, from 13:00-14:00
You know the score, meet up at the signing and then wander across to the Crown and Anchor in Neal Street and If we're not visible downstairs, then we'll be upstairs.
Come along and meet the Southern Contingent after the signing and have a chat over a few drinks. It's much better than tapping away at a keyboard.
See you there!"

That sounds Amazing!  How I long for that kind of comradery, meeting to discuss 2000ad over a drink. I would attend every event! However, I live in Canada where no one knows the thrills of 2000ad and comic collectors are more concerned with the value of their variant covers instead of the joy of reading good comics.
Have a drink for me and extend my gratitude to Tharg!

Wow, two incredible double splash pages in a row, nice! MacNeil's blocks of black and white create a powerful image and Weston's art is so creepy and detailed, both amazing. Congrats!

I just came across this on Ian's FB and haven't seen this posted here before; a beautiful hardback showcasing Ian Kennedy's artwork: https://www.dcthomsonshop.co.uk/the-art-of-ian-kennedy

I'll be picking it up for sure!

( I know several people here have commissions from Ian, you can see mine here https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerydetailsearch.asp?artist=Ian++Kennedy&GCat=37208 )

News / Re: Button Man coming to Netflix.

Great news! I see that Button Man will be a Netflix Movie, but I think a series (in the vein of the Punisher etc.) would also work well. Hopefully there will be three movies, one for each book. Looking forward to this!

Strontium Dog...hardcover edition along the lines of the Mek Files, which retain the origional colour of the strip.

Yes please!! I would buy this in a heartbeat. Please Tharg?? I'd be willing to pay Pounds, USD or Galactic Groats! (or all the above - take my money!)

Best of luck with getting a job Smith. I'm glad to hear you got an interview so quickly. Sometimes thats the hardest part.

I hope all goes well with your sister too.

Congrats to the winner! Second place winner Dan Chase is fantastic as well - Tharg had a difficult choice!

I'm as amateur as it gets and have really enjoyed entering the contests. It gives me a purpose to draw, which is great.

Honestly, one of my favorite things about the contest is seeing the art flow in at (almost) a daily rate, what a treat!

From the article: "The theme for the next competition will be John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra's 'Strontium Dog'.

Looking forward to Next comp!

Skullmo, that is an incredible piece. What a fantastic image, I even prefer this B&W to the colored cover. Congrats.

General / Re: Drokk!! - a rival to SpaceSpinner 2000??

SpaceSpinner 2000 has no rival! viva la  Fox & Conrad! *Friend of the show!*

Honestly (as a North American) I have no one else to really talk to about my passion for 2000 AD (The comics, the art, the creators etc.) so I get great joy from listening to both Space Spinner 2000 and the Mega City Book Club podcasts. It's great to hear others enjoying the comics I've become obsessed with.

(I also discovered Heroes of 2000 a.d. via MCBC and have began reading through it from the beginning - today I read No.14 Robbie Morrison, next up is the Dreddcount part 1. Fantastic effort, much appreciated!)

With that said, there is so much Dredd to cover and so many perspectives that I think there is always room for more - hopefully this is more of a complement than a competitor.
