Off Topic / Remember the good old days?
26 January, 2016, 09:00:57 AM
I'm watching Jackie Brown and noticed that she is smoking inside an airport. Funny how things change. Speaking of which I watched an episode of The Twilight Zone recently where Captain Kirk was smoking on an airplane.

Anyone else miss things from the old days that aren't around any more?

Off Topic / The weekend thread (again)
22 January, 2016, 08:03:10 PM
I seem to recall that years ago there was a thread where people would say what they were going to do/had done over the weekend. And being the nosey git I am, I thought I'd make a new one.

This weekend I'll be washing the cars and then it's off to town for a mates leaving do. Followed by a day in bed regretting how much I had to drink. Can't wait :D

Film & TV / LoG help?
22 January, 2016, 09:33:33 AM
In the last episode of series 3 how does Dean get his camera back? The skinheads steal it and from him, and one is later seen filming his girlfriend with it. And then suddenly at the end Dean has it back again when he films the aftermath of the crash.

Did I miss something? Is it ever explained how he got it back? I need closure!

Film & TV / What the **** is this??
21 January, 2016, 06:44:31 AM
Disappointing films. I'm sure we have all been there (actually I'm pretty sure The Phantom Menace is the biggest cinematic disappointment in history)

That being said, are there any other films that you have been highly excited for only to be let down in the biggest way possible, maybe even to the point of not finishing the film?

I'll start. Chernobyl Diaries. First half was bloody fantastic. The atmosphere, the locations...it was all going so well to the point where I actually thought it would make it into my ten list. Then halfway in and all of a sudden.... I don't even remember. That is how bad it was. I don't remember getting to the end.

Anyone got anything similar?

Film & TV / What's a cinema?
14 January, 2016, 04:57:48 AM
With my little town now containing just one video shop when 10 years ago we had 6 from memory, does anyone else think that the cinema isn't far behind?

It seems every time I go to the cinema I get annoyed at

-people talking
-people bumping into the back of your chair
-people standing up halfway through the film to go to the toilet
-children talking
-adults talking
-old people talking
-children laughing
-cellphones ringing
-someone checking a txt blinding the rest of the cinema because there phone is the size of a shoe box lid and the light it gives off could be seen from the moon

and so on.

The benefits of home cinema seem to far outweigh the cons. The prices have come down dramatically in the past 5-10 years. Technology is at a point where for a few grand you can get a sound system that can rival your local cinema in terms of quality. TV's are bloody huge now.... so yeah, can anyone else see the cinema going the way of the dodo? or am I just a grumpy old bastard who hates everybody?

Games / Like desert island discs but with games!
14 January, 2016, 04:42:48 AM
I'm sure the thread title is pretty self explanatory. Desert island. A solar panel with an power supply thing to power your tv and console/s. No internet so you can't play anything that requires always online (blame EA for that)

Compilations are allowed. Different consoles are allowed (you can take as many consoles as you like with you) You don't have any friends to play multiplayer with (just like real life! :D ). .......Any questions? No? Lets go!

1 - GTA V (PS4) - Because I could probably play this game forever
2 - Final Fantasy 7 (PSX) - Another game I could play forever
3 - Pokemon Red/Blue (3DS) - Because the New 3DS comes with both built into the console
4 - Halo : Master Chief Collection (XBOX1) - Yes there are better shooters, but this one is special to me
5 - Forza Motorsport 6 (XBOX1) - Because I need a racing game

and since my 3DS has those games built in, I get to choose a 3DS game which is Mario Kart 7.

Lets hear yours!

Film & TV / What's that film where...
09 January, 2016, 05:34:09 PM
A guy has just got a whole lot of money (probably through illegal means), I believe he died and at the end a little girl (maybe his daughter) is colouring in the money with crayons and drawing on it and stuff.

Cheers

Film & TV / Spoiler Alert!
08 January, 2016, 04:21:48 PM
I was talking to a bloke today in his late 30's, and during the conversation I mentioned
Soylent Green is people
and he didn't have a clue what I was talking about. I told him it's a film and he said he's never heard of it!

Turns out I just ruined a 40 year old film for him. Not that he's likely to watch it now. I mean he's had nearly 40 years to see it already. Anyone else got a similar story to tell?

Which (if any) 2000ad (or other) comic titles would you like to see on the big screen? (or on the telly/netflix/whatever)

Ever since I read it, I have always thought that Shako would make a great movie. Real actors (not those made up ones) along with a CGI bear. Blood and snow work oh so well together.

So yeah, what would you like to see done? And any particular story line?

Help! / The guy making the youtube videos...
05 January, 2016, 04:58:58 AM
Hi all. About 1 - 2 years ago there was someone on here who was making a web blog diary type thing and posting in on youtube. Rambling on about his life as well as taking about things he got recently in the way of comics and books and such. Anyone know who I'm on about and can you post a link to his youtube. Cheers - Rich.
