I always had tremendous respect for the Irish. Well, except Guiness beer.

:)

OK, now you're DEFINITELY trolling. ;)

Lol that beats the conspiracy that Jews rule the world. Maybe in fact it's the Irish.

Shhh! Don't tell everyone. Like the mice in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, we've successfully managed to convince everyone we're at the bottom of the pecking order rather than the top.

(Mice, see? It's all connected.)

I see this is like when I said in a FB group (2000ad Tat and Chat, to be precise) that collecting trade arcs are basically what you need to have about Dredd and his mythology. Someone said tho that I would miss some pretty good, essential short-stories that are in CCF.

Thanks for looking into it - fair points all round.  Nobody thinks of Christopher Steele, I suppose, as a Robot-Archie-like automaton, just as nobody thinks of Simon Pegg as a small clasping device on a washing line.

Donald Trump, on the other hand...

Not to mention Boris Johnson.

Or Mickey Mouse, now that I know that means Penis Mouse in Ireland.

I've never seen Steamboat Willy, and now I'm not sure I want to.

We should all be ashamed, we're not taking this discussion about conspiracies seriously.

I suggest the mods split off all the Stalin stuff into a separate thread where we can properly objectify history's greatest monsters. Possibly rank them in order of sexiness? Ranking is popular here right? I'm an enthusiastic ranker myself. I think my ranking activity has increased now that I'm at home all the time.

Hm... Well, conspiracies basically are not serious subject. Seriously.

As for your suggesting, I heard that Hitler was impotent, others say he preferred men. Don't know where it place him in terms of ranking. Or if you ask for their sex appeal? I find Robert Carlayle more attractive than Adolf. Do fictional portrayals count as real guys?

Welcome to a whole new avenue of puerile sniggering, Funt.

See, any you all laughed when I said that Disney had secretly taken over the world!!!!!

My dreams often can be lucid. And long; yet, I forget copious amount each time I wake up. Weirdest of all, every time I dream them, they seem so nightmarishly real.

Me and all. Which reminds me of last night's one where I was a prisoner in a Nazi concentration camp.  Weird thing was, I really did visit Dachau once and my dream was nothing like that. Still very grim though. I blame the lockdown.

I just woke up from afternoon nap. I dreamed that I am playing RE5 with Chris Redfield and when I reached the end i battled some monster, which in fact was me, that manifests like giant monster, but is Chris Redfield instead lol. Like Chris Redfield is some clone gone rogue or something. No kidding.

Damn, I feel now confused.

Judging from Indigo Prime's post, they did not include Cadet and whatisname the second story from America trade, which are sequels to America arc.

General / Re: What Defines a Dredd Epic?

I guess that for Dredd epic, the scope has to be big enough, in addition to being multi-part arc, like Oz or Origins. Day the Law Died is epic to me, nevertheless. Or Cursed Earth. I guess the feeling must be such that is akin to watching Lawrence of Arabia or watching any big budgeted historical movie. Also, for Dredd epic, it has to have quite of an impact on subsequent stories.

Thanks.

I think I'll probably get it. Despite that I already have books with some of these stories in (CCF10&11 and America).

General / Essential Judge Dredd America trade

I couldn't find a thread where I'd appropriately ask this question, but is anybody know what stories/progs are contained in this trade? I just noticed it on amazon, perhaps I'll buy it, although I read all Dredd stories up to America (I noticed on Amazon sample Letter from Democrat and Revolution arc).

Like the title says, can we get the reprint of the third RT trade soon (as it is out of stock)? My collection looks pretty dire without it :)

Film & TV / Re: Last movie watched...

Freebie and the Bean (1974)

Precursor to the buddy cop films of the 80s. From today's POV, this film definitely looks dated, as it is very much a 1970s film. Which involves heavily politically incorrect humor, rooted in sexist, ethnical and homophobic banter. Aside from that, the whole material in the film suits better for an episode of a cop TV show (aka, Starsky and Hutch). Freebie (James Caan) and Bean (Alan Arkin) are cops determined to bring down infamous mob boss Red Myers when they find out that an anonymous hired gun is in town to kill Myers. Most of the movie relies on banter between the two leads, who often trade insults with each other. This comes not only from their background (Bean is Mexican) but personalities as well (Bean is a married man with issues in his marriage; while Freebie is a rather laid back streetwise cop). What I like about this film is a sense of naivety typical of its time. That and very well choreographed car chase sequences. You won't see in another 1970s film where a car flies from a highway into an older couple's apartment. All in all, I can say I had a good time with this film, despite its setbacks (humor is so-so and the narrative doesn't have much meat on its bones).

It's good to see Mickey advancing from steamboat Willy to spying world's politicians. I wilt never look at Mickey Mouse with the same eyes.

People talking on the quiet carriage of the train, either on their phone or to each other. You've got the whole train to talk shite that I do not want to listen to and still feel obliged to do it on the one carriage of the train reserved for people who'd like to travel in peace. Arseholes.

Hahaha lol. I know I am late to the party, but it happened to me once. Both guys also walked in their socks, for example, to go to the toilet. Also, never heard so many F bombs in my life.
