I'm at 1063 (buttonman1969). What I do is buy a shitload of cheapo American DVD's when buying the ones I want for resale. Deepdiscountdvd charges a flat shipping rate so it doesn't cost any more unless the customs dudes are extra vigilant.

I don't make a living from it but generally I get my stuff for free off the back of eBay profits. Downsides are high eBay/Paypal/customs fees and a changing market - Don't get caught with too many 'Escape To Victory' Region Ones!

"And what the hewlits wrong with Watson?"

Nothing apart from a mild persecution complex.

"Hes been threatening to unsubscribe for years.Get on with it, I say"

Puzzling as I've never made such a threat. If anything I've always thought my letters sound too affectionate. Buy it 'cos I like it I guess.

"Im sick of the whinger"

Well I still love you. Would you consider counselling? At least stop imbiding so much of your namesake product as it's making you irrational.

They put the title all over the bayonette which is the whole subject of the story!

I ordered this at the start of the thread and it arrived last week - damn super saver delivery!

First impression - don't drop it on me foot! No resale on eBay for this guy unless you can convince someone to pay ?10 post - must be four inches thick.

The stories are good but by no strech of the imagination the best. The selection is from a narrow band of between 400-900 out of over 4000. They also pain themselves to include every branch of the services, so  a dull delivery driver story is included.

Some of the art is amazing, but as was pointed out earlier there are no artist credits. If this does well hopefully further volumes will follow - including some of the Ian Kennedy's I fondly remember. 'Bombs on Target' anyone?

Have you checked out the high bidder's web site? Some cracking stuff including some other Watchmen pages and some from The Killing Joke. Clearly has several pennies to rub together!

Being a fat git I got an e-mail from online sweety shop  www.aquarterof.com  saying they had some but were only letting their regulars know in case they were swamped, as they were with the Wonka bars. Tell 'em I sent you and I'm sure they'll sell you some!

Out on DVD on 21/11/2005 - you must have a time machine or a parrot, Jim lad!

I thought this was twee and sentimental and much prefer the sweets which share the name. Daisy Donovan didn't cut it for me as the love interest and the baddies were about as menacing as a plate of sandwiches.

Pretty inoffensive but that's hardly a recommendation. Try 'Bad news bears' if family comedy with an edge is your bag.

If you like your action figures go see 'The 40 years old virgin' he's got hundreds of them. I wont spoil the ending but he seems a lot better off at the start of the film than he does at the end!

Admiral Ozzel - Pah this man stood up to Gripper Stebson, next to him Darth is a cissy.

He and Milton Johns (Derek Cassidy off 'Murphy's Mob') were the best panto style baddies of my youth. And yet Noel Edmonds lives. "There is no justice, just us".  - some baddies.

General / Re: Insuring your comics
01 September, 2005, 07:21:17 AM
I've worked in an insurance claims office (CIS) for 17 years and have never had a sizeable comics claim. The nearest I saw was a guy's water damaged Star wars figures for which he was wanting the collectors' list price off some fanzine. I was sad enough to ask what At-At, was the packaging intact, battle damaged X-wing? all that stuff. He got paid but only at the cost of equivalent toys rather than the value of the Smithsonian bound collectables he was after.

Basically, and this is dull, you house contents will cover you for damage cause by insured events or perils eg. fire storm theft etc. Usually a collection is considered a single item and as a valuable - this usually restricts the sum covered to 15% of the total sum insured.

Another option woulld be to specify the collection on an 'All risk' or 'Personal Possesions' policy. These are policies that are written specially for your stuff and you need to prove the value and pay more. There is greater cover but wear and tear and vermin - mice, moths etc- are never covered.

In the event of a claim you have to prove the value and sometimes the insurer will have in the small print that they are only liable for an equivalent toy, comic etc. This is largely due to people claiming Franklin mint crap and citing their web site as proof that 'Shire Horses' has risen 500% in value in ten minutes.

Every company is different and it's always wise to check in advance or risk a smug 'sorry' from the evil insurer.
