Round 1 might require you get your thrill-banks tuned up as we drag some lesser lights of Tharg's Thrillverse out - though there are some stonking series in here it has to be said. And even when there's not, most of the ties offer some intriguing conundrums at least.

Probably one of the most divisive Thrills the Prog has ever seen features in this round. Against a thrill that I know is amongst the favs of a couple of boarders - this one might get heated!

Which most rattles your thrill-receptors:

Glimmer Rats - more info

vs.

Big Dave - more info

Just reply in this thread naming your favourite thrill of these two series at the beginning of your post (or use Bold tags so I can spot it easily) and say what you like about these wonderful stories after that.

Match ends early on the morning of Saturday 30th October and the winner gets a place in Round 2 (of 9!!!).

What on Earth is ALL of this?

For those that need 'um and can be bothered to follow 'um there's some simple rules

Any questions, just ask as ever - and have FUN!

Easiest choice of all the tourneys so far: Glimmer Rats by a gazillion, trillion nautical miles, parsecs, light years.......
When I die, I want to die like my grandfather who died peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in his car.

Old age is the Lord's way of telling us to step aside for something new. Death's in case we didn't take the hint.

Rogue Judge

Yes, I love Glimmer Rats! Definitely a favorite thrill. Creepy atmospheric art and tight storytelling. I would like to see more Glimmer Rats, so much potential and untold stories left in the Glimmer.

Big Dave is an unfortunate misfire in Tooth's illustrious history, and even though I haven't read his opponent here I'm going to vote for it on a strategic/tactical basis. So Glimmer Rats.

I've never reread Glimmer Rats and don't remember too much about it. But Big Dave can just get in the bin. Steve Parkhouse is great but can do nothing to redeem BD. I returned to 2000ad in about 1993 after a few years away and was delighted to find 2000ad was still around and even though the prog was still at what many would consider it's low point I was loving getting back into it. Then Big Dave: Wotta Lotta Balls showed up. I remember reading it and it just making teenage me feel horrible.

Glimmer Rats!

Southstreeter

Glimmer Rats was awesome, I was disappointed there wasn't any more.

Trooper McFad

Citizens are Perps who haven't been caught ... yet!

Link Prime

Big Dave for some laugh out loud moments.

And because no-one else will vote for it!

NapalmKev

Big Dave.

I haven't read the strip since it first came out but I have no recollection of Glimmer Rats.

Cheers

Big Dave

A thumbs up from me an' all for the bloke wot puts the man into Manchester.

(That being said, Glimmer Rats is one of my all-time fave thrills in Tooth, and I would love to see it return.)

Buttonman

Big Dave for being far more memorable - when the zombie Nobbie Stiles (or was it Bobby Charlton?) saved the day the air was punced. It was satire see!

Glimmer Rats for a brilliant piece of one-and-done Future War.
