Does anyone here know any good comic shops in japan? I'd like to keep buying 2000ad while in japan but subscriptions scare me. The only place Ive found that sells english language comics is Manga no mori in shibuya (Near tokyu hands) they had a couple of 2000ad graphic novels there but no progs.

Bit of a stupid question for a mainly english based web group but Im going to post this anyway.   I miss my progs...

Conexus

why are you scared of subscribing ? (I don't subscribe, but I'm a student so if I subscribed from my soon to be uni adress, I'd miss tooth during the hols and If i suscribed from home, I'd be hassling my mum and dad having to repost my progs), but according to all here that do subscribe, the service is very good, even to Japan (ask Floyd) :)

Lo mondocoyte, it is I, Floyd.
I live in Japan and things aren`t great here. English language comics are called `amecomi` (from American comics), so remember that when you`re hunting for them.
I know two good comic shops here, one in Shibuya the other in Shinjuku. Neither sells 2000 Ad, although both sell the GNs and one has a few old copies of the Megazine.  You can email me directly for how to get to those places.
One thing I would recommend in Tokyo is a long wander around Akihabara. It`s the computer and nerd centre of Tokyo, so, along with a lot of cool gadget shops there are a lot of comic and collector shops. Most are dedicated to jailbait softporn manga sort of stuff, but I`m sure it`s possible to find 2000ad there somewhere. Even if you can`t, it`s a fun place to wander.
  Me, I subscribe

feel free to mail me about this

Spent many happy hours/days wandering around Akihabara! Gadget city. And near Ueno, I seem to remember.
You can go to the Zoo and chuck pebbles at the animals with all the other sprogs.
Used to love going to Yoyogi park an seeing all the punk kids posing very studiously. Blasting out Exploited, not realising what diabolic shite they were actually listening to.
Or wandering around Tokyu Hands dept store.
There were a couple of American style supermarkets that used to stock american comics in Meguro(but this was a long time ago mind!), my uncle used to parcel me thrillpower.
But there's so many bizarre comics and toys, I'm sure you'll have no trouble keeping amused.
I lived in Nakameguro for three years in the eighties, and spent everyday parked on my ass skim reading utter Wrestling/Robot/Horror/Gun Shark madness at various tube station bookshops.
No wonder my schooling went to hell.
Have fun in Japan, I'm very jealous.
