Not really - obviously King Carlos created Dredd in the first place (and catapulted the original concept from a near future One-Eyed Jack style cop to the further-future lawman we all know and love/fear/etc) but after those initial stories Carlos was away until the beginning of the Apocalypse War. The scrawny early progger Joe with more functional knee/elbow/shoulder pads had morphed quite a bit in those four years.

At the risk of lighting the blue touch paper Sharkey, the 650 'honourable' members of the House of Commons are the best argument I know for your way of thinking. Less said about the 800 odd 'lords and ladies' in the other place.
There was a meme going around in the 2000s about a workplace that contained $however-many bankrupts, $however-many sex offenders (the list went on - you get the picture). The punchline was that the workplace was Congress (or possibly the Senate or House of Representatives). It'd be interesting to see how the numbers match up in the UK for Parliament. And then compare them to similarly sized prisons - Dartmoor has 646 (roughly the size of the Commons), Brixton has 798 (Lords) and Birmingham has 1450 (both houses).

...and that appearance in a trial is why every adaptation since has been credited to "the original author" or not credited at all (Watchmen, V for Vendetta, etc).

Ian Gibson is another early one from Robot Wars to the end of Luna-1. Even though it's a different uniform the general build and shape changed a bit in those times.

The only thing wrong with Prog 335 is that the cover is a bodge-job from other pics. It's impossible for me to detach it from my personal nostalgia as, while it wasn't the first one I read (308) or the first one I bought (330) it's still in my fledgling squaxx summer.

Colin Cantwell, 90 Star Wars spacecraft designer (Death Star, X-Wing, TIE fighter and Imperial Star Destroyer - also the Millennium Falcon). Before Star Wars, Cantwell created the opening space scene from 2001: A Space Odyssey.

« on: 22 May, 2022, 10:58:59 PM »Spotify has got me listening to music again. But what's the best way to get more "new" stuff out of it? My musical taste stopped evolving about twenty years ago. And only "new" artists I've come to over the last decade are Public Service Broadcasting and Paolo Nutini.

In my experience the best way to get new unknown stuff of Spotify is to compile a playlist for a workout, a friend or some other reason where you might want to specifically dictate the tracks and then Spotify will 'helpfully' start adding tracks to it of it's own violition that it thinks you might like, leading to utter confusion and frustration.
If you're able to access it wherever you're listening, I'd actually suggest Youtube as a great tool for new music. The stuff it's algorithms suggest on the right hand side can lead you down all sorts of rabbit holes of new bands, obscure stuff and things you might otherwise have never heard of.
Yes, I love the similar music suggestions on Spotify, and I love creating Playlists for everything from walking, running etc. Great way to discover new and old songs I've missed out on.
I do the same with youtube music - I've trained both spotify and youtube to suggest the kind of music I might like, and sometimes they present things I've never heard of before. Many lockdown discoveries have been made this way...

Dunno, but the way these things usually work is that if they haven't actually released a film within 2/5/10 years* then the rights will revert. This includes very low budget productions which are 'released' in name only.

(Plus there were Scream! specials for a while, but I think they were like early 2000AD specials - not the usual creators).
