Can someone recommend a course for simple video editing for a complete newbie. I've looked at reviews for the most popular ( Or at least the most frequently advertised) but looking at reviews I discovered that these companies are considered a poor investment mainly due to their policy of allowing anyone (Without checking qualifications/ experience) to make up their own video tutoring courses so now I don't know what company to trust.

Because no one else would do it and some acquaintances and Adrian wanted to play D & D I have somehow found myself it the position of Dungeon Master.

(Quee evil laugh and panto villain style calls of "Ultimate Power" )

It seems to be going OK. (At least no one is complaining and Adrian who has been a DM before thinks that I am coping well)

Because of the you-know-what we have been playing via Zoom.

Because this is me we are talking about I have been having some technical problems... such as Zoom failing to start up... and constantly crashing during initial start up. I travel to Adrian's to do this as I don't think that the BT wi-Fi hot spot can cope with more than one other person and Mother considers my required gaming conversation deeply annoying...

Of course I have had the usual not everyone can attend the meetings at the same time... I have only 4 players and out of the 3 sessions I have yet to have all players present... we have agreed to just carry on with me filling in for missing players...
(yes I know that I shouldn't really do that but we'd rather carry on than not play at all)

I think that I can mitigate some of these problems by restarting my laptop and thus closing down most of my web pages... however because my laptop is over 4 years old it seems to take a good 10 mins at least to stare up...

I wanted to add a filter so I didn't appear as... well myself... for that added touch of fantasy. I downloaded the Snap camera app (The one that had the excellent kitten filter that hit the news a couple of days ago) in the hopes of perhaps finding a Dragon head filter but... guess what? Yep it's downloaded but doesn't seem to work... no options show up (I'd love to add a voice changer filter to but those are expensive and oddly none of them seen to have a demo so you can't hear and judge the options before you invest in the programme)

So have any of you folks played/DM'd 5e Dungeons & Dragons? Do you have any tips? I still have no real idea how to run combat... but I just made up a plot that avoided combat. But clearly I can't keep that up for long.

Can anybody tell me if it is possible to find out if your phone has spywear on it. For the second time Adrian has had £!,000 taken from his bank account and it is either a skimmer (?) installed at a cash machine after his debit card was changed or his phone (Which he has used to make purchases ) giving his details away & allowing some well organized scrot to purchase goods with Adrian's money. He managed to get his funds refunded the first time but if this kind of incident keeps on happening then they will run out of generosity...

As you fine folks know I am not any good with computers... Or even games. My PC isn't working some of my games are broken because of the mods I've installed. I don't know what I am doing and I can't understand the advice given ..

Now I can't afford a professional so I am asking for someone (In the London area) to come over and fix my problems and perhaps explain to me how to make sure such issues don't happen again.

I will pay you travel expenses (Petrol money/ travel card)

I will give you tea/ coffee and perhaps a cat! (well Dorian might come and see you and I am searching for homes for some others...) And sandwiches/ cake... ( give advanced preference... or it'll be just cheese/ham/beef) Those who know me will attest to my hospitality.

Obviously I don't mean immediately ( because of we all know what) and mother is in the highest risk group so... please try to be covid free .. But if someone can think about being able to accept my offer I' be grateful.

Games / Neverwinter On line woes...

In the last Steam summer sale I bought Neverwinter Nights Special Edition. One of the reasons why I got it is that it has a multiplayer online option. Adrian too has this game on his X box one and we were hoping that while I was visiting him (as I don't have stable internet at home) that we could team up.

Yesterday we booted up our game and... well I couldn't work out how to join in. There were no instructions... Adrian was given no prompts as to searching for other players and I was asked for a DM password that I did not have & Adrian did not know. Can anyone help or are we doomed never to play together?

Can anyone tell me if Age of Mythology: Extended Edition will run on a windows 10 machine without adaptation ... as I wouldn't know how to do it. (Already destroyed my Skyrim, Fallout 4 and Dragon Age Origins sulk)

Ok gentlemen I have a question for you.
Two nights ago I was returning home from Adrian's when this "gentleman" approches me asking to spare him a minute. As he was outside a multi occupied home I thought that he wanted my help to get inside as no one was answering his plea.

Nope. HE just straight up asked me for sex.

A man. at lest 10 years my junior asked me for sex.

Tried to convince me I had a nice body. (I don't I have this thing called a mirror)

Also thought my... private parts would be a sweet as strawberry cheesecake.

Kept my head down and prayed he wouldn't turn violent.

Mercyfully he took the hint that I was not interested.

My question. What the hell was he thinking? Seriously dose this approach with complete strange women ever work?
(and even if it did, would you seriously copulate with a woman you didn't know and actually thought such a preposition was sufficient for her to think that you were a potential partner?

Curious minds need to know....

I downloaded the drivers and then the PC was supposed to re start before it can be set up .

Well I got no prompt for the computer to re start.

I re started my laptop anyway and the program still didn't trigger. So it's just sitting in my USb slot winking one & off and doing nothing. Any advice?

I downloaded free copy of WPS office because I couldn't afford to renew my word for windows subscription and this had a good review.

However I wanted to print off some of my writings using an HP Envy 6234 (I won't boar you with the details)

But although the laptop is able to detect the printer and therefor should ... you know ... print... Nothing happens.

Do I have to pay to be able to print? Can't find anything noted in the instructions...

Because of the Corona Virus Adrian's plans to have a D&D group have faltered. He want members of the group to meet "online" to play.

Well I have a problem with this. The webcam inside my laptop no longer works ... and the microphone doesn't work either. The problem with the microphone appears to be with the software which is Realtek keeps switching itself off whilst I am using it without even notification. (Last year I volunteered to voice some NPC's for a game mod. As I couldn't get my voice recorded I had to leave the project.)

So I am thinking of saving up for a webcam. A search for recommendations suggests that this Logitech C920 HD Pro Webcam model would be the best available. (If the suppliers ever get more stock)

My questions are as follows...

1/ Can you fine folks recommend the above web cam?

2/ How do I stop the Realtek program from sabotaging the sound? Can I remove this programme (As I have been informed that it isn't a very good system anyway) and replace it with a sound programme that is more amenable to commands. (To whit doesn't let me think it's recording sound files, only to find out that when you send them off... the person receiving them gets the glorious sound of silence because Realtek in its wisdom has turned off the recording without even telling you.) I've seen the programme turn off the recording without me touching ANYTHING...

3/ Adrian wants to use a app called "Houseparty" in order for us in the group to communicate. But there have been some rumors that it isn't very secure and that peoples personnel data has been site. What is you opinion? Is there a better free app that would be better?

4/ Can anyone recommend a "dice roll" programme. I know they exist. How do you integrate this into the visual feed?

Help! / Sony Handycam DCR SX30E

My faithful old Handycam (8+ years) has developed a fault. The touchscreen lights up as it is supposed to but no longer responds to finger pressure so I can't download it's contents or do anything with it.
I have looked on YouTube for advice but it neither covers my particular issue nor the model of camera I have. Can anyone advise please?
