The long version goes - Sampson is crap because he traces his characters from fashion magazines, and cannot design anything AT ALL from his own imagination.  His cbackgrounds are often non-existent.  Probably the low point (amongst many!), was when he had to draw an old person - his solution? - trace another supermodels face, but draw lines randomly all over the face!

As someone else pointed out Ranson does something similar, but at least the finished product looks smarter than Sampson's clashing flat and indistinct watercolours!

Don't worry Fraze, I don't think you'll ever whip up as much hate as Sampson does...not unless you start spending too much time using Kays catalogue for reference!! :)

The reason we haven't seen his work is because he is without doubt the crappest artist in the history of 2000AD - simple, really!

Oh god,  Wireheads!  I'd wiped that one out of my memory for the sake of my own sanity!

Some nutter is actually requesting the "Panther with human Brain" strip (survivor) as possible reprint in the Megazine!!!!  It takes all sorts I suppose.  Hope you're all voting!!

Dry Run        The Clown       Babe Race 2000
Outlaw       Bradley        Mean Team
Millars Robohunter      Fleischers Rogue
Junker    Helltrekkers

These have all been fingered as the worst thrills in the other thread - please vote on these to make the bottom thrills more representative (or to save them from a poor showing if you liked them!).

Go to characters/profile/ click on the character then click on the number next to '2000AD' to list the stories.  So far none of these have achieved five votes.  Given I've already voted on them, it would just take another four votes to register them.  If you've any other bad thrills from bygone progs, name and shame it here!

Just went to prog 888 to vote on BabeRace2000 and came across another stinker - The Clown!  Ugh!!

Hope you've gone and voted for it Jeff - personally, I too think that a lot worse has been published.  However, the ever changing art did it no favours, nor the plodding strip.  Nothing special really - as for your list of hate - i agree they are all worse than Outlaw, so I'm off to vote for them as well..

'Bradley' is currently marginally above 'Flesh' ion the voting with 6.74, compared to 6.67.

'Outlaw' has yet to receive 5 votes of approval/disapproval (go to prog 1000 to vote for this).  Neither has Fleischer's 'Rogue Trooper' or Millar's 'Robohunter', both of which can conveniently be found in Prog 723.  Amazingly (IMO) Bill Savage is threatening to storm into the top ten with a stonking 8 for 'Invasion'!

go to -characters/profiles/bradley- and you can vote on all of his stories.  Apparently we are in the minority here though McNulty, as the "Bradley goes Gothic" has rated a respectable 6.79!

As someone who will never forgive Simon Harrison for what he did with Strontum Dog, I'm with you all the way!  Not in my all time top ten worst (as there are enough Millar and Fleischer stories to fill that many slots!), but dire all the same.  Once I've tracked down the little bastard's first (non-shock) appearance, I'll post up the prog number and we can vote on it - course there may be some people who love the sprog, but we won't know til we put him to the vote!

Obviously a lot of you vote on recent progs, but very few have gone delved into the archives to vote on bygone progs except perhaps to vote on your favourites.  This means that all the bottom thrills are stories that have appeared recently - while i'm not trying to say Killer deserves a spot in the top ten, there are surely more deserving cases for the worst ever thrills list (everything by Millar and Fleischer spring to my mind).  Go on, vent your anger at that awful old strip that you've tried to blank out all these years - get some closure!!

Indeed, the Watcher had noticed this - the Watcher sees all!  a ten page 'jam' story set at 2000Ads birthday party, written and drawn by a whole buncha old and new fellas - sounds good!

..But it would be bloody awful quality compared to the 'shop' copy  -  I say OY! NO!  Lets not have any creeping move towards on-line 2000AD - I've got a collection to keep up here!!

Worst characters - the real life double act of Morrison and Millar were worse than their stories (although with the exception of Zenith they are all utter crap). The ridiculous posturing we had to put up with from them when they had their little war with Mills and Wagner in the comics press...Grrrr!

From the actual pages of 2000AD I would say Maniac 5 and Babe Race 2000 cast, and all Fleischers characters (Junker, HH2).
