Bad City Blue

Hi everyone. Issue two of Sentinel is now active on Kickstarter, from just £4 for a copy. It's a 64 page, black and white square bound comic like Starblazer and has gone down very well.

Here's the link, which includes full details and the first 9 pages to hopefully whet your appetite.

Two days left to back issue to - £4 for a pphysical copy.

"The setting is clear, an alternative Earth.

A Roman Empire where enslaved Dragons are the Gladiators instead of Humans. No less barbaric as it becomes clear on the 5th Preview page, the Dragons are sentient, intelligent beings.

That is a clear intent of this story, to consider the other side of something. I'd hope we all know slavery is wrong, blet alone forcing creatures to kill each other for our entertainment.

Novels such as White Fang have explored the same ideas without using Humans. This being a fantasy setting the similarities between the sensibilities of a Human and a Dragon are plainer to see.

It is not an overcomplicated plot and it isn't intended to be. This book isn't pretending to be something it's not. It is an homage to a past era in British Comics and it works really well.

64 Pages flew past  for me as it is such a clear and engaging story. Knowing what happens to our scaly protagonists is intriguing. Are their myths truth or just a dream of an enslaved race who has forgotten freedom?

Ed's Art is a great fit for Alan's easy style of storytelling. The Dragons are engaging characters and he has to deal with Air, Land and Sea in this story which he does well. Ships need to look like they are displacing water and they need to be consistent in design and scale from varying angles. That sounds fairly obvious but it isn't easy to achieve; Ed has nailed it."
