The Jesus and Mary Chain - Psychocandy.

I was always a Darklands man, myself. Never understood how the Mary Chain never got co-opted into the goth movement, TBH -- Darklands is, officially, GAF.

Going to have to dust off all my New Model Army stuff in advance of their 30th anniversary tour in October. Rather looking forward to it, given that their 20th anniversary gig at Rock City ranks as one of my favourite gigs of all time.

Was also there at the 20th Anniversary gig and doing likewise to attend the 30th at Rock City. Should be two great nights!!
I'm sure I've said before that there's a point at a great gig where the music becomes a solvent and the individual dissolves, literally loses the sense of self within this great, heaving mass... in this case, you actually could feel the floor rise and fall under 1500 united footfalls, and by the time they played 'Vengeance'...

I love me some live music.

Cheers!

The talk of A-House reminded me of their song- which I can't find called "Always the last to know" I think

"so and so
told such and such...
how come I
am always the last to know?"

Stuck in my memory, not so much for the song but for the video which had the girl singer( later a kids TV presenter) jiggling most pleasantly in the background

Anyway to all the piss poor musicians who cant play rock music properly and cant play the drums and the guitar properly this is how you do it.

To me they sound like The Cure and Tricky's lovechild with a touch of Modest Mouse.

"I am not a number... I am a free man!"

Republic of Replicants

Tiplodocus

A-HA.

Listening to "Foot of The Mountain" and it rocks.*

*Of course by "rocks" I mean "provides the pleasant sensation that only euro-electro-pop can".
Be excellent to each other. And party on!

I rediscovered this track.Actually i didnt rediscover it at all as i listen it all the time as its so good and as a result of an impulsive fit of impetuousness i am posting it in this thread.

Timeless perfect production on this track

3.48 into the track the sound of the snare drum changes with an added echo/reverb effect which reminds me of Motown records [most probably sampled from a Fairlight - listening again it sounds like a tambourine sound on top of the drum] and then the theres the sound of the crash symbal which sounds like "Tsssssssss".

This track is widely known as one of or the best produced rock tracks ever which is amazing when its mostly synthetic and created with a Fairlight.

Real instruments + synths and studio trickery create bliss.
