Looks great. I will be buying the one with the correct cover.

Are we sure this isn't the mirrorverse?
|I hope not. That would be a cheap silly cop out to appease moany fans complaining about it being all dark!

I thought episode 3 of The Orville was some fine-ass television.  "A race of gay men go to court to enforce FGM on a baby" sounds like a setup for a poor-taste Family Guy joke (probably one of Brian's terrible ideas for a novel), but Orville spins a good yarn out of it, and trusts its audience to a degree I haven't seen in sci-fi for quite some time.  It trusts you to figure out on your own that
women are born to the Moclan race all the time, that their society covers it up, and that despite his representing the liberal POV in the story, Bortus will never tell his son that he was born female - making the final line utterly fucking heartbreaking.  And did I imagine it or did that reveal about the female philosopher/writer owe something to the final act of Terry Pratchett's Monstrous Regiment?
You could argue that my expectations were lowered by the script being by a man known for dick jokes - the first joke of the episode is literally a joke where an alien shows someone his dick - and directed by Brannon Braga, but even if that were the case, well played.  That was some fine managing of expectations.
Yep this was a better epsiode, but again the terrible moments of humour lets the whole thing down.

I keep saying it - Enterprise is my favourite Trek series. I love how they have to rely on their wits and principles whilst crawling around in a ridiculously underpowered starship.

So the logo of the girls' comic is bigger than the logo from the boys' comic?  The castration of white male culture at the hands of the matriarchal conspiracy continues.
Good! Not a moment too soon.

I find it hard to understand why, if you're interested in 2000ad and its characters, you wouldn't be buying it currently.
It's as good as it's ever been and if you even read a 10th of what's posted on the forum surely your curiosity would be piqued? And it's not like it's hard to find a copy.
I rarely post in the prog thread these days (I buy my copy on a Weds and most people have said what needs saying by then) but rest assured, I'm a paid-up current era Squaxx and proud!
I've been buying it again for a couple years & disagree. About to give up again, not enough good content to justify me buying it regularly.

Just received prog 2050 in the post, and it's interesting to see the Zenith piece
which is a one-page faux magazine interview accompanied by Yeowell's Zenith pinup.
Thanks for the warning!

It would really screw with audience expectation to have a mid-budget Star Wars film.

I'm surprised how expensive Logan was (relatively) though.

I don't mean it felt cheap, but it feels more like a film that would have cost $50m rather than twice that - a smaller scale Dredd type film.
Maybe the Obi Wan movie will be lower budget? To be honest I can't see how it would work having an Obi Wan movie between ROTS & ANH as he was supopsed to be in hiding. But something along the lines of Yojimbo would suit the character.

There's no excuse to be a lapsed reader, the Prog has been on excellent form for longer than I can remember, Zenith or no Zenith!  ;)

The familiar tends to sell better than the ambiguous, so Disney doesn't want to stretch the envelope with anything that the dumbest Five-year-old can't contemplate. Believable plot, morally challenged characters that are driven by understandable goals well that can all get lost in the CGI explosions far as they're concerned.
Cool. Bring it on.

Oh, really? Damn.

I'm slightly stunned that the prog's line-up conspicuously didn't list Zenith as a strip and yet fans have worked themselves up into a frenzy over a new series, or even a one-off, when it was really quite obvious that wasn't what was happening...

Agreed, but that's the fault of a certain PR droid who wasn't averse to giving that impression in the Thrill-mail
Exactly.

We're talking as if Tharg's announced a new 24 part epic, but he might just want a new strip to bung in the back of another book repackaging the old material.

Not even that!

Michael Molcher ends the latest Thrillcast by asking Yeowell if he's read the piece Matt Smith has written for prog 2050. It sounds like Yeowell may only have provided a generic illustration for a text feature, which would explain why Zenith doesn't appear in the list of strips returning next issue.
Oh, really? Damn.

So there's over half the Prog I'll be skipping... Why Tharg? Why? let it go! Stop milking a dead horse...
Which ones will you be skipping?
