Just saw this yesterday and it's exactly like Deathray said. Cliched and very, very dumb but hugely entertaining. Ron Perlman makes a cracking viking too, and the creature design is really nice. Aliens+vikings= a cracking good time.

Devons Daddy

worth a handful of groats!

DD and son  plus SODD best buddy shall sally forth and watch this based on your review,
sounds like a decent afternoons entertainment.
I AM VERY BUSY!

They should have called this Jesus & the Vikings.

Liked the sound of this. Was it the Glasgow Frightfest showing?

Yeah! Overall it was a great Frightfest actually, "I Sell The Dead"&"Deadgirl" were hilarious and "Grace" was stunning. "The Unborn" was the biggest pile of tosh I've seen in a long time though, but if it sold some tickets for the event then fair play. Did you catch any of the films yourself Cosh?

I altered that movie poster some time last year as a joke. Taking the same actor's head from his more well known role as J.C.

Thinking.... if Jesus was allowed to come back, he might want sword or a blaster this time round.

This is pretty good fun. It had some great ideas in it like actually explaining how the alien speaks the same language as humans, even if it is dumb as a mule in other parts (that bit with the priest was hilarious. :) )
You're at the precipice Tony, of an enormous crossroads.

Watched this the other day and was slightly disappointed. It was well made and decent enough, just not as bonkers as I'd hoped. Any time I've told someone about I've had to explain the basic concept and, when I do, you can see their eyes light up with the same sort of degenerate glee that I had and it doesn't really deliver on that unspoken anticipation.

It must be something about Viking films, as The Thirteenth Warrior has a great sequence showing Antonio Banderas picking up the lingo.
We never really die.

Great poster, Thryllseekyr!  :D

Got this on blue ray and found it quite interesting. A bit slow at times but not a bad film. Quite a few 'By the gods' which instantly brought me to the mighty Wulf Sternhammer. Ron Pearlman's skull crushing scene with his hammer in each hand is worth watching.

Missed that one but it looks like a bit of cliched fun. Its now on our Lovefilm list - thanks.

The DVD is being advertised at the monement, I was thinking getting this, but none of reveiws sound as promicng as it should.

A trait shared by many of these fancy/scifi films these days.

TS it is worth it, you will enjoy it.

I've heard some really terrible reviews - but I'll be picking it up when it's available for a bit less dough.

The premise sort of reminded me of that Aliens comic where the Vikings go off to search for one of the slimey little beasties. An unusually solid little book, that.

Well, compared to some of the tosh Dark Horse churned out under the Aliens banner, it is!

I heard that the laine langauge is based on old Norse, which seems to fit myths and legends about Nordic Aliens.
