Did this event actually happen?  Both Steve and the Cartoon Museum were remarkably quiet about it, on the day.

It did, but it was very small. I was 10% of the audience.

Well his book was very dry & quite boring to be honest I imagine he is like that in real life.

wow, that seems like quite an un-necessary comment there judgeurko

I love going to talk at an event where I'm 10% of the audience - it's like an intimate gig rather than something at Wembley stadium.

I'm hoping that the Cartoon Museum arrange more talks

Al Ewing did a Q&A in an upstairs room of a Manchester pub about 7 years ago - there were only about six of us there, so when they needed the room after an hour, we all just moved down to the bar and carried on chatting.

Unfortunately, your intimate gig = loss-making event for the museum.

10 paying punters or less is not going to make any similar events happen.

What? How do you know it's loss-making? I agree it's loss-making if Steve Mac charged £100+ appearance fee but I'm not sure I've ever seen the cartoon museum advertise how much they pay (if they pay!) speakers. Perhaps you care to let us all know how much they pay speakers. Thanks!

On reflection, I don't need an answer to my question. I'm just going to stop posting on this thread instead. Have a good Sunday everyone.
