That's my favourite Megazine cover in a long time. Looks really good on the physical magazine.

Thistlebone is just geniuses at work! It never fails. Worth the price of the Prog on its own.

If Regened is done, I shall miss it as it once was. I think the last few issues were....not as strong as earlier ones. I guess that's the last we'll ever see of Lowborn High as well. I will be honest and say I don't miss that. But I will miss a lot of the other stuff. Obviously the best of it is in the main Prog now, but I felt there was life in Finder and Keeper, and Renk to name but two. The latter I would very much like to see in the Prog.

It begs the question....how DO you attract new younger readers? Us old farts don't be around forever.

Just time to say, so far:
Brilliant cover
Dredd - this story has, for me, been the strongest for many years and the ending was great too.
Thistlebone - wow, again.

A strong Prog all round. Enjoying the Dredd immensely on every level. Henry Flint's art is perfection but that's always the case. Thistlebone is of course sublime as always. The prog would be worth the cover price for either of those two alone.

Enjoying everything else. The 3riller has me intrigued which is all it needs to do really.

Thistlebone is as brilliant as I was expecting. It oozes atmosphere from every frame. I'm not even sure how you do that. Even the names of the characters are perfect. It's a masterclass.

Feral and For is as great as ever. I don't even get half the references but it still works well if you don't, which is very clever.

Dredd is great as others have pointed out.

I'm not a fan of Enemy Earth or Devil's Railroad, though the art on the latter is stunning (unsurprisingly given who it is).

A word for Dan Cornwell here....his art is fantastic and he's one of my favourite artists at the moment. Just a joy to read and tells every story with such clarity.

I never have words to describe Lawless. How it continues to be so perfect defies description.

Often people say "they don't make them like they used to". With Lawless it's "they didn't used to make them like they do now".

As I've said before, The Meg is worth the price for Lawless alone. I am, as always, bowled over.

Quote from: WhizzBang on 14 December, 2023, 08:37:18 PMIan's work on Robo Hunter was what hooked me into buying 2000AD and he is a childhood hero for me and I am sure many others here. I am glad that he got to hear some of the appreciation and respect so many of us have for him before he went.
Same. That strip is what got me hooked on the Prog. It hasn't dated at all either. It was hugely addictive and I could have read it all day every day. Full of magnificent characters so brilliantly drawn. His style so instantly recognisable as well.

Thank you Ian Gibson, you'll genuinely never be matched.

The Christmas Prog was always a jumping on point with an all new line up. I've noticed in recent years there's been the odd story that runs into it, now it's all of them except Dredd. Is it just me or does this....diminish it a bit?

I agree with the above. On paper, I'd have preferred Hershey to stay dead the first time, but what we then got has been so magnificent I can't really hold that line. It's been fantastic and we're not even done yet.

Retcon what you like if there's a story worth telling and you can tell it well.

Quite enjoyed Lowborn High this time. Gasp. Agree about the bear scene though.

Quote from: scrotnig on 01 October, 2023, 08:17:36 PMI guess the only thing I could really say I disliked in the Bish-op era was the attempt to replace Tharg with the Vector 13 Men in Black. Though I understand the thinking behind trying it.
I don't. I thought the idea of getting rid of Tharg was to make 2000AD more like the Megazine, or American comics back in the days when they had letters pages, where the editors answered letters as themselves. Why remove a fictional character and replace him with other fictional characters?
I think it was an attempt to replace something some thought was naff and dated, with something contemporary and popular (X-Files was at its height).

I loved the Vector 13 stories themselves though. Just didn't like the idea of 2000AD without Tharg.
