2000AD Previews: Progs 1410-1417 and Megazine 224-225

The Amstor Computer

Just a few hints at what's going to be happening in 2K over the next few months, and a few surprises - so if you don't want them spoiled, look away!

PROGS 1410-1413

Continuing to influence contemporary comics, even after 27 years of publication, 2000 AD is Britain's award-winning weekly SF anthology title, featuring some of the country's greatest creative talent!

Strontium Dog Johnny Alpha is fighting for his life in "Traitor to His Kind," by John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra; Robo-Hunter Samantha Slade is captured by an insane collector in "The Furzt Case," by Alan Grant and Ian Gibson; the hunt is on for the aliens that could bring about genocide in Asylum II by Rob Williams and Boo Cook; torturer-for-hire Lobster Random is back, and entangled in a complex case of seductive robots and inheritances in "Tooth and Claw" by Simon Spurrier and Carl Critchlow; John Higgins and Mindy Newell bring an unusual take on an alien invasion in "Faces"; and future lawman Judge Dredd must find the nuclear devices hidden in the city before the whole metropolis explodes in "Total War" by John Wagner and Henry Flint.

Future lawman Judge Dredd races against time to find the bombers in "Total War" by John Wagner and Henry Flint (Judge Dredd vs Aliens); alien Kilquo is tangled in a black ops conspiracy in "Faces" by John Higgins (Hellblazer: Son of Man) and Mindy Newell; torturer-for-hire Lobster Random must return to his nightmarish past in "Tooth and Claw" by Simon Spurrier and Carl Critchlow; secret agent Synnamon returns to Earth and gets more than she bargained for in "Recalibration" by Colin Clayton & Chris Dows and Laurence Campbell and David Roach; and Ian Edginton (Scarlet Traces) and Steve Yeowell (The Invisibles) reunite for a Red Seas mini-series, featuring the return of the disembodied dog Erebus!

Maximum justice every four weeks from the worlds of Judge Dredd and 2000 AD - now with more new strips than ever before! This issue: Judge Dredd hits the "Bite Clubs? in search of an unlikely perp (Part 1 of 2, b y John Smith & John Burns); Young Middenface and his fellow mutants face the terror of ?Killoden? (Part 1 of 6, by Alan Grant & John Ridgway); The Simping Detective meets a rival dick in ?Innocence? (Part 1 of 3, by Simon Spurrier & Frazer Irving); more nightmares in a damaged brain in Anderson: PSI-Division (Part 4 of 6, by Alan Grant & Arthur Ranson); a second all-new Judge Dredd thriller; plus a surprise reappearance for a hero of Megazines past! Also: back to the Front in Charley's War! Plus: features, interviews, competitions and more!

In this issue, tooth versus jaw in the conclusive Judge Dredd adventure ?Bite Fight!? (John Smith & John Burns). Also, Hondo honey Inaba goes in search of her mentor-turned-Ronin in ?Shimura: Executioner? (2 of 3 by Robbie Morison & Andy Clarke). Plus, Highland heat for Young Middenface and his mutant clansmen in "Killoden? (2 of 6 by Alan Grant & John Ridgway). Also in this issue, The Simping Detective gets a new partner in ?Innocence (A Broad)? (2 of 3 by Simon Spurrier & Frazer Irving). Things get wilder with more nightmares in a damaged brain in ?Anderson - PSI-Division: WMD? (5 of 6 by Alan Grant & Arthur Ranson).

Also, a second new Judge Dredd thriller, ?'2%? (by Alan Grant & Shaun Thomas), plus a surprise reappearance for a hero of Megazines past! Rounding things off is ?Charley?s War,? features, interviews, competitions and more!

Couple of notes:

Interesting to see Shimura back, just in time for that TPB to be published... :-)

Delighted to see that the new Middenface story is going to be a long one, especially if it's edging more to the darker tone of the earlier strips.

The Red Seas miniseries sounds interesting, and it'll keep me going until the next full series arrives.

Could Total War be a 7-parts-plus tale? It certainly looks like being a fairly substantial story, and a few message boarders are going to be smiling smugly for predicting the nuke plot.

Lot to look forward to :-)

Sounds mostly goodly, ceptin' that theres no mention of Stront after 1414, which (if you take these listings literally) means an episode length of only 8ish parts ... hope there's more to it than that

Don't think it will be as long as people think. Unless it's broken down into books- I doubt that, and hope it isn't.

I guessed the "surprise" character would be Shimura.
