Well, these list things are all a load of shite, but I'll try one ;)

Bedazzled
(original) (Nicked from Floyd, love this)

The Thing
(nicked from McWild, just a quality film)

American Werewolf in London
(Nicked from P.Bear, I don't get tired of watching it)

The Wicker Man (Nicked from Ming, it's the anti-sound of music)

Star Wars (Nicked fom Carlsborg, I can't leave it out even to spite George).

On my own now...

Excalibur - If there's a better Arthurian movie made in my lifetime, well, I'd go see it.

Hawk the Slayer - Well, I have my reasons, but it sums up something or other for me no doubt.  The love of things beyond any artistic merits.

Conan the Barbarian - Makes me regret my parents weren't murdered and I was chained to the wheel of pain (not really).

Time Bandits - I love watching British films, even when like this and Werewolf, they were made by yanks.  This is just a placeholder for all the great terry Gilliam Films I guess, but it is such a fucking great journey of the imagination.

The Final Programme - The Jerry Cornelius movie.  Moorcock didn't like it, I do.

Ask me tomorrow, or even later tonight and there'd be a different top ten.

And sadly, nothing beyond the early eighties gets in my top ten.  It's pathetic, but what can I say, I'm a man living beyond my time.

There's also the option of seeing if you can rent out TV series.

24's a real time killer if you like that sort of thing, although it's hard to watch just one if it hooks you.

The Wire, The Shield, Battlestar Galactica, Deadwood are all great IMHO, not sure how easy they are to rent though, you may be able to pick up cheap deals at play.com.

"24's a real time killer if you like that sort of thing, although it's hard to watch just one if it hooks you."

Yeah I did 14 episodes of series 4 in one day.  If I was going to be that obsessive about it, I'd have been better off doing all 24 for the (sad git) kudos.

Dunk!

Desert island flicks off the top of my head:

Forbidden Planet

M.A.S.H

The Haunting (1963)

Raiders of the Lost Ark

Strictly Ballroom

Spirited Away.

Excalibur (Nicked from PVS)

The Dish

Seven Samurai

LOTR (I'm a sucker for any of the three)
"Trust we"

Mattriceten

"Hawk the Slayer - Well, I have my reasons, but it sums up something or other for me no doubt. The love of things beyond any artistic merits."

THAT'S for sure!

Especially the mocasin wearing Elf (Crow is it?) and that rip-off Darth Vader played by the late Jack Palance!

I always remember watching 'Hawk the Slayer' because we'd also rented 'Time Wars' ('GI SAmurai') another true classic!

Mattriceten

...along with 'THE STUFF!' of course!

Devons Daddy

the Jungle Book

magnifecent seven

life of brian

moulin rouge

pulp fiction

ANIMAL HOUSE (to this day a classic comedy)
star wars

good the bad and the ugly, few dollars more, fist full of dollars.  CLINTS THAT GOOD.

I AM VERY BUSY!
PJ Maybe and I use the same dictionary, live with it.

NO 2000ad no life!

Albion

2001
Alien
Donnie Darko
Time Bandits
Repo Man
One flew over the cuckoos nest
Dirty Harry
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Star Wars (Any one of episodes 4 - 6, I can't quite decide!)
Lord of the Rings (Can't decide which one of these either!)
Dumb all over, a little ugly on the side.

Albion

Damn!

I really should have put Planet of the apes in my Top 10. (The 1968 one of course!)
Dumb all over, a little ugly on the side.

Buttonman

Saw 'The Prestige' today, and although not quite top ten it was excellent. If you accept the MacGuffin of David Bowie's machine of course!

monty--

Someone mentioned Zu Warriors! Way Hey! That was a blast from the past! I remember watching that on the telly during Xmas 1990.

And, yes. I am currently on crack. Yes I am.

Funt Solo

I'm going to cheat, in no particular order:

1. The Godfather, parts I & II [gangster]
2. Once Upon A Time In The West [western]
3. Blade Runner [sci-fi]
4. The Big Sleep [film noir]
5. The Usual Suspects [crime]
