Week 3 of Round 3 is ‘One and Done’ week with no fewer than 3 of the surviving Future Shockesque stories appearing. They all have very interesting ties and … well we’ll see. In my mind though, intriguing as those clashes are, is a modern master's face-off that is one of the ties of the Round for me, not everyone I imagine, but for me…

You could wonder how the heck a thrill like Friday’s Rogue Trooper has got to Round 3, when we’ve lost thrills like Devlin Waugh and Zombo already. Well here we must understand luck of the draw and to be fair Friday has rid us of both Dinosty and Dead Meat so far, so it's doing everyone favours. Storm Warning has had a harder passage … well after Really and Truly taking out okayyyy thrill Asylum.

Those Robo-Tales have taken out few done in ones Tales from MC-1 and 86ers thus far. It will face a much stiffer challenge with Survival Geeks, conqueror of Soul Gun Warrior, a delightful thrill that was funny and charming and made the smart move of knowing when to bow out.

When Glimmer Rats - who have already seen off Big Dave and Whatever Happened to - go to war its a dark and horrible affair, with little chance of survival and mud, grim and death everywhere. When D.R. And Quinch go to war, sure there was some mud and slime, but it was more about guns carved from soap, escaping through tunnels with a vet in drag and being saved by mum… yes these are very different strips!

Are the two female protagonists here really comparable? One a rather cliche thief with a heart. Who so far has bested Roadkill and Finn (good result that!) the other a dark and twisted war veteran. Damaged as much by her brutal father as the war on NuEarth. A full, rounded and fascinating character, victor over Soul Sisters… can you tell I’m leaning one way on this one….

Two modern classics in one of the ties of the round for me. Kingdom has got Whet with Carver Hale in Round 2. Proteus Vex saw off Zippy Couriers. Now they meet in a tie that will leave at least one Tournament organiser in tears.

errrr I never right these in a rush in the morning and it does rather feel like this one deserves a good write up, or at least better than I'm going to give it now! Rogue Trooper flag bearer of the prog bested Harlem Heroes (Reboot) just using Helm... errr Time Twisters home of some of the truly great done in one and many of one A. Moore of Northamptons finest shorts. Most of them even the rubbish one would have seen of Moonrunner as they did in Round 2 mind... best I can do in a rush!

Twisted dark tales on offer here. Hookjaw conquered Silo at the box office and Strange and Darke caused controversy (in my head) by removing Hershey from the tournament. But which one has bitten off more than it can chew?

We’ll start off with one of the ‘Done in Ones’ the granddaddy of them all, the Poppa One Parter, vanquisher of Shirmura. For all its history, for their fundamental part in the Prog can they see off one of the truly great thrills, one which managed to spurn an even great Thrill (Loooook I have to do this I get to spout my opinion okay!) Insurrection has already seen off Abelard Snazz. Tough tie this one…

Prog / Prog 2283 - Scare in the community

Nice punny tagline.

Good Prog behind it.

Dredd as you were nicely cranking tension, typically superb Niemand interactions between character and a place fantastic story. I'm not sure I've actually declared this but Niemand is now clearly the best none Wagner Dredd writer we have and have had.

Brink Speaking of the best this is just that. Another quite brilliant episode. Who is following Maslow?

Hope more innovation and imagination with the way this story is presented and its a damned good story too, so - fantastic!

Dexter - the only real misstep this week. This has been a fantastic story and then this week fight and over. I assume something is being set up with the moths - I guess the final weapon to defeat the AI (I'm normally wrong about these things!) - but for this story I wanted more than the energetic slam, bam over ending.

Fiends origins and emergances - brilliant fun.

So yeah a bit of a step back from last week, mainly due to Dexter, which bad, just not the high standard I'd set for it!

Well if Week 1 broke you into what Round 3 could be like Week 2 will show you its extremes with possibly the tie of the Round coming in (though there is one later that possibly tops even this). Eyes will be blinding, hair will be torn out before this week is over…

Bit of a cool down from yesterday… very interesting one mind. Strontium DogS (DOGS, with an ‘S’ the ‘S’ is very important) pulled off another shock (well to me at least) in Round 2, toppling Tharg’s 3rillers, did not see that coming. Counterfeit Girl hasn’t much form so far, only having faced Brit-Cit Babes and brushed them aside BUT it has form elsewhere having won Broodbliks Sideshow vote for the best none Bad Company Milligan story and that’s no mean feit (see what I did there, do ya) at all.

Bit of a cool down from yesterday… a bit at least.  Bendatti Vedatta has had a relatively easy run to Round 3 taking down Walter the Wobot and then London Falling, not exactly shining lights of thrillpower. Low Life is in a different league and has taken down Nemesis already… ok all be it Nemesis and Deadlock. But this only goes one way surely???

I mean we wouldn’t have expected this sort of tie until the Quarters maybe. Two astonishing thrills, both of which could have gone a long, long way in the tourney. But one will fall here. Zenith already has form in tough match-ups having taken down Harry 20 on the High Rock in Round 2. Button Man had a much easier time taking out that other hitman (well Button man is kinda a hitman… kinda) in Grey Suit. If this isn’t the tie of the Round it's damned close and one of the toughest calls that will have to be made… maybe…

This one is Tough, both are favourites of mine, but we’ll have to get used to that and the other tie today…. Well… that’s a level up again… Tyranny Rex had to take down the The Visible Man to get this far. Leviathan has already had a very tough tussle to get to this round having been drawn against Grey Area in Round 2. Neither of these deserves to go out in the Round, however one must…

The Dead took down Dragon Tales in Round 1 but then followed that up with what is possibly the surprise of the Tournament so far when it took out modern favourite Zombo. That sort of form must be leaving Lobster Random feeling nervous, especially since it didn’t have its own way again low level opponent Time Flies in Round 2. I would have called this only one way, form suggests I could well be backing the wrong horse… well if that horse has diminishing numbers of crustacean claws and a fetish for mechanical love.

A tie more about what not to consider. So Harlem Heroes - which put Tales from the Doghouse in the… well doghouse - doesn’t include Inferno. Bogie Man, even though we should only be thinking about the story that first appeared in the Meg - saw off Necrophim in a close fought tie. So yeah put all the rest aside when you make the call between
