Issue 3 is out tomorrow, here's a preview for you. Fairly spoiler light except for the seven pages of action.

The story is progressing and we get to see another sector and a peep at the immigration control of Mega-City Two.

I'm sure Senior Street Judge Burdis will be along later with a detailed synopsis and opinions. For now - the preview.

Looks like I'm gonna be busy tomorrow reading everything. Best I set the alarm an hour early, who needs sleep ;)

A friendly mod or admin might want to amend the title of this thread, which should read "#3". Cheers for the preview, Bat King; the skywriting message "I'm sorry geof darr...." is priceless.

One thing I gotta point out, this is a 'review' section on the forum, just like for the Prog and Meg. Surely if we want a 'preview' section, then start one for all of IDW's stuff and post there, otherwise we will end up with two threads about the same thing, one coming out a day earlier than it should, same way as the Prog and Meg, Thank You!

Just picked it up and read it before starting work for the day. Well, no big surprises - this is about as satisfying and fulfilling as it could be. Easily belongs in the prog or Meg. I guess the artwork's not for everyone but surely after almost 40 years of seeing Dredd get chopped and changed around by various styles/updates/interpretations I can't imagine why anyone would be getting bent out of shape about this. I love it. The attention to detail and the sense of scale is a beauty to behold. There's a double-spread right at the start that's pretty breathtaking.

I'll avoid the spoilers and keep it vague: Dredd's on beach patrol, there's a recurring threat from some of the local sea-life as well as a grimly hilarious take on immigration control all the while moving Dredd that little bit closer to completing his off-campus assignment. As I'm actually living in pre-MC2 right now, the satire here is delicious but the thing I'm really enjoying about the series so far is it's pretty dense. It takes a while to read through and absorb it. A lot of concepts being thrown at you every issue and they're not all being spoonfed. The freeway-bots are fantastic.

Anyway, love it. Hope Wolk and Farinas'll be up for doing more like this.

Hold on, a mod will be around to give you a roasting for daring to suggest this.
If I'd known it was harmless I would have killed it myself.

Its a fair point - I usually put Previews of IDW in the 'Books & Comics' area... which is a better place. Not sure why I put this one in this area...

In that way I am treating all IDW comics as not 2000AD as they aren't. While as a 'review' on 2000AD related IP it does sort of fit here when it is a 'review'.

I'm really enjoying the Ulises Farinas art. My Comixology bill is going to suffer

I'd really like to see these given an oversize treatment, the US format comic doesn't really do it justice.

I'd rather see all the discussion about a title in one place.  So we start a thread about an upcoming title, then when it comes out people post their reviews on the end.

I am loving the art on this, but the writing I am finding a bit hard to follow at times - had to keep going back and re-reading things before I could figure out what was going on half the time.  Might just be me and my attention span. :/ Some great ideas, an engaging enough story and fantastic art, though.
