Right, I've only been about these parts for a comparitively short while and have missed a huge swathe of the good stuff.  But new arrivals are constantly pitching up and should have a go-to thread for their education in just how "off-topic" we can get in the off-topic sub-forum.

So here's the deal.  Post your favourite classic thread - the stupider and more ridiculous the better.  Threads that are rapidly derailed into utter stupidity are also welcome.  If it made you laugh like a drain and even the thought of it makes you grin, this is the place to share your favourites.

Oh, make sure to post the thread's name and/or what it's on about too, that way we'll avoid too much needless repetition.

Here's my first entry, the one that I've just been pointed towards.

An innocent question by a conscientious script droid leads to new heights of nerdery, and indirectly leads to the foundation of the Private Pavillion.

I genuinely did read the first two chapters. I just couldn't believe the horror of it all.
We never really die.

Some of our darker moments have been memorable too, although I almost fear to resurrect them:

Poo-gate, aka A Message from the Writer of Stalag 666.

and the legend that was:

Thin Ice, aka This Forum.

I was on my honeymoon for much of that one (kicked off on my wedding day, honestly I can't leave you people alone for five minutes...), and I was still compelled to read it!

DDT did a job on me

locustsofdeath!

'Have I Screwed my IPod' and the 'Raw Egg' one had me in stitches. Glad I was around to participate in both! This is the best place on the internet  :D.

Hmmm. I think there's material above that we shouldn't be proud of.

Conversely, we have Rac's masterpiece, the "women's underware" thread!

Ah, the Thin Ice thread. That was the one that prompted most boarders to switch off their chameleon circuits, wasn't it?

Crap, don't know what happened there.

I was gonna say that I'm glad it sorted itself out as quickly as it did. It loked like a bit of a fan/pro divide was beginning to form and it would have been a shame. One of the many great things about this board, I've found, is that creators can come on and interact and be 'one of the lads' as it were. I don't frequent many forums but I'm guessing that that's not the case everywhere.

It also made me realise that when I first joined I was guilty of some of the sins discussed - and can still be in the case of one partcular writer - so I hereby resolve to do better. I don't want to be the next philt. Wherever he may be now.

Aaaand, I wasn't fast enough.
