Now, who do we have to bribe to get a Lawless HC deluxe edition?

This. So very much this!

Lobster Random

Who needs to come back and finish The Vort….

Yes, yes he does. One of the great unfinished stories. We need to go to our LCS hide all the Spurrier books so his transatlantic acareer fails and he has to come grovelling back to Tharg to finish it!

Last day of the Grennie Derby with Gordon watching which of his thrills will you choose to make it to Round 4? From a quick eye scan I think we see the favourite to snatch this one, but suspect there could be more to come today. I'll announce the result of the Grennoff in the morning.

Relatively quiet here so wonder if folks have missed this one, therefore the end of tie boost could well draw out new votes and swing it... though its not as close as I was expecting. I'll be counting up in the morning.

Well if Week 1 broke you into what Round 3 could be like Week 2 will show you its extremes with possibly the tie of the Round coming in (though there is one later that possibly tops even this). Eyes will be blinding, hair will be torn out before this week is over…

I mean we wouldn’t have expected this sort of tie until the Quarters maybe. Two astonishing thrills, both of which could have gone a long, long way in the tourney. But one will fall here. Zenith already has form in tough match-ups having taken down Harry 20 on the High Rock in Round 2. Button Man had a much easier time taking out that other hitman (well Button man is kinda a hitman… kinda) in Grey Suit. If this isn’t the tie of the Round it's damned close and one of the toughest calls that will have to be made… maybe…

Just reply in this thread naming your favourite thrill of these two series at the beginning of your post (or use Bold tags so I can spot it easily) and say what you like about these wonderful stories after that.

Match ends early on the morning of Saturday 21st May and the winner gets a place in Round 4 (of 9!!!).

What on Earth is ALL of this?

For those that need ‘um and can be bothered to follow ‘um there’s some simple rules

Any questions, just ask as ever - and have FUN

This one is Tough, both are favourites of mine, but we’ll have to get used to that and the other tie today…. Well… that’s a level up again… Tyranny Rex had to take down the The Visible Man to get this far. Leviathan has already had a very tough tussle to get to this round having been drawn against Grey Area in Round 2. Neither of these deserves to go out in the Round, however one must…

Without wishing to drag this off topic anyone who doesn't read The Phoenix should defo check out Abby Buler's Doggo. One of the great unappericated 4 panel gag strips.

The Dead took down Dragon Tales in Round 1 but then followed that up with what is possibly the surprise of the Tournament so far when it took out modern favourite Zombo. That sort of form must be leaving Lobster Random feeling nervous, especially since it didn’t have its own way again low level opponent Time Flies in Round 2. I would have called this only one way, form suggests I could well be backing the wrong horse… well if that horse has diminishing numbers of crustacean claws and a fetish for mechanical love.

A tie more about what not to consider. So Harlem Heroes - which put Tales from the Doghouse in the… well doghouse - doesn’t include Inferno. Bogie Man, even though we should only be thinking about the story that first appeared in the Meg - saw off Necrophim in a close fought tie. So yeah put all the rest aside when you make the call between

Fact checking myself: Bob Holness presented the game show Blockbusters and not Countdown. I was so eager to get the James Bond trivia out that I forgot myself. Luckily I didn’t say he played the saxophone on Baker Street.

First James Bond too. On the radio.

I will learn to read a post properly before jumpin' in with my useless information ... especially when I quote it. I will... one day... honest...

Prog / Prog 2282 - Out for Blood
« on: 16 May, 2022, 08:38:26 PM »
Nice little Prog - to say we started the year with such a stella line-up, most of which has moved on and we still have a Prog of this quality is quite something!

Dredd turning into a really nice little story this. Love all the insights into what the Titan surgury does to folks. The idea of not being able to laugh is curiously chilling. All moving along at a good pace, but all with room to breathe and explore. Just brilliant stuff.

As is Hope love the way it plays with the way it presents its tale is fantastic and what a tale it tells as well. Superb

Brink well however good those strips are they ain't Brink. What a chilling episode after some nice relaxing intimate character moments the horror just hits home all the more. Just staggeringly good.

Dexter I mean this is good, good comics too. Dabnett has really upped his game on Bulletopia of late. I don't know if these current strips have been written knowing the change in format for this series (it has changed right?) and if so it shows. nice self contained (one assumes) tales built onto the ongoing premise but with space to do its own thing and here the horror set up of the first episode pays off in spades.

Fiends wraps things up really nicely thank you very much. That this is the 'weakest' strip here, as opposed to the best thing as it might well be in many a prog is testament to how good the Prog is at the moment.

Just a blister Prog and a lovely letterer from one of our finest to boot.

Well this is interesting YouTube launched a load of 'YouTube originals' on Friday (13th May) and one of them was apparently The Phoenix's own Corpse Talk

https://youtu.be/rqZQ2wMPtO0

There are a number of the videos up already - though I had to do a specific seearch to find them. Well done to Adam and Lisa Murphy!

As learnt from Downthetubes
