I've not seen or read an issue of 2000AD for about 20 years, but was a fan when it first came out. However, in the late 1980s and early 1990s I worked at Irwin House, 118 Southwark Street, London SE1 for Mirrorsoft - a computer games publishing company that was part of the Mirror Group (before Robert Maxwell fell off his boat).

We used to get the occaisional letter addressed to Tharg the Almighty (this was circa 1989-1991), and the building caretaker claimed that there were hundreds of old 2000AD issues in the basement of the building when we had to vacate it.

The question is this - was 2000AD ever based at that address? It's something I've been wondering about for years! I'm guessing that maybe the Mirror Group owned IPC or bought them up at some point? Is that the connection?

I'm pretty sure it was, I once sent them a letter to that address.

Maxwell did indeed own 2000AD, between IPC and Egmont Fleetway I believe.

I think we're all missing the point here:

Sorry to say that Mirrorsoft completely vacated the building in very early 1992, so the comics tha twere in the basement aren't likely to be there now!

Rebelstar's good, but it's no Laser Squad...
Dan Dare will return for a new adventure soon, Earthlets!

maybe I'm wrong (I'm sure you'll put me right!)

But I think I used to work near the old IPC tower, the one that takes off(!) in the early progs.

It was just behind Chancery Lane, just before Holborn Viaduct. I used to pass it on the way to a library. The muttering of sound effects amused my colleagues.

Was I mistaken?
