No, I never did!

Sadly, around the same time I fell off the gamebook wagon I went and bought a Nintendo Switch, sealing my own doom. My unfinished quest for the Crown of Kings nags away at me, though. Must make some time to complete it before the year is out...

Quote from: Doomlord66 on 25 July, 2023, 12:41:34 AMAnyone know where I can get a copy of 144? Hatchet doesn't have one nor is there one on ebay.

Keep a look out! Hachette occasionally do small re-print runs. I originally missed volume 2 of Stickleback, but kept an eye on the site. After several months it came back into stock. After I grabbed a copy it went back to out-of-print within a few days!

So genuinely sad to think it's over - and that the saga had such a damp squib of an ending, to boot.

Just finished Demon '79. Brilliant evocation of an era, funny and charming, but the ending was such a damp squib. They'd set themselves up for something quite clever, whereby Nida's well-meaning attack on Michael Smart inadvertently ushers in a future even worse than the one she was trying to prevent - 'Hero politician assaulted by unhinged immigrant!' the tabloids would proclaim the next day. Cue riots, civil unrest and a landslide victory for either Smart or the National Front.

Instead they did absolutely nothing with any of that foreshadowing. The political subtext woven throughout the episode ultimately goes nowhere, and a random nuclear attack happens instead. Oh well.

I can take or leave Carver Hale, which never really got going, but I adore 13 - that makes the book a must-buy!

Ooh, that's right! 'Buratino Must Die' for another 50-odd pages. All in all, it's a book that will be easily filled. Lots of Henry Flint goodness, whatever you might think of the story.

Not the Dredd volume I was hoping for. Maybe it'll read better collected but it was a bit meh in the prog imo. vWonder what they'll pair it up with as I don't think it's long engough to fill and entire volume. Barney doesn't have the stats on it but it looks like it was 15 parts so that's what 90ish pages?

92pp plus 5 covers.

There's various epilogues you can add, as well. They Eat Horses, Don't They?; Carry the Nine; The Hard Way, etc for another (approximately) 50 pages or so.

I've bought the early Nemesis stuff more often than any other strip (Titan, Rebellion phonebook, Deviant hardcover, Hachette, Heresies hardcovers). I really, really, really do not need to buy it again. And I had zero interest in these new editions until I saw those covers...

No matter. Great call on Generation Killer - that's a lot of fun

My first prog, so it's a one-off that's burned deep into my synapses! I've spent 23 years and counting waiting for Dredd to have a return match with Imal...
