Well while I'm going to be all over this like a sticky rash - I mean what a glorious creative team - I do have to say... and don't run me out of town here... I started to watch Hawk the Slayer the other day on noticing it was on telly. I didn't get past the first 20 minutes... probably less. It was utter tosh!

Not in the prog, but a stand alone US format series, which will be reprinted in the floppy with the Meg.

No surprises there. Ennis has been long touting his enthusiasm for writing the character.

yeah, the movie hasn't aged well, to be honest it was ropey all those years ago :)

is this actually running in the pages of 2000AD, or in a separate publication?

I am looking forward to it.

Is only the first issue in the Meg or is the whole thing going to be there?

Each issue will be bagged with monthly issues of Judge Dredd The Megazine from January 2022 onwards.

So yes it looks like it will make the megazine a must get next year and do not forget Lawless will be in it as well

The new series is starting in the Christmas Meg, I believe.

Aye.  The last few months have been a bit of a disappointment for me.  Then again I've struggled to get on with the Returners and Devlin Waugh.  Horses for courses ...

I’m not sure I’ve ever actually seen Hawk the Slayer, although seeing the description and images ring a bell. That means I’ve probably watched it part the way through.

I will try to watch the film properly before I read the comic.

Not really needed, there's a catchup chapter at the start.

Young me loved Hawk the Slayer - I haven't tried a recent re-watch, but I assume the rosy spectacles would see me through fairly well.

Having now seen it, and read the comic, I do see what you guys mean. (Turned out I had seen much of the film before. I’d just forgotten a lot of it.) I didn’t hate the film and there was good stuff in there (although it feels very derivative now, but that might be hindsight) but… well, it’s not very good is it? It could have been good with a bit of work, and there is a certain charm to it but…

… I did enjoy the comic. Early days yet, but it’s doing good stuff with the material.
