First one I think I've got!

Can I just say though how much I am enjoying this, despite my failure. Thank you for doing it. Can you keep it up through 2021? Just till life improves?

I picked this up and can heartily recommend.
I was a kid in the 80s and though I try to fight it there is some residue of the snobbish desire to be serious that infected Who fandom at the time in me.
And we all know that Who comic strips were rubbish tilll Wagner/Mills/Gibbons got hold of them in '78, yeah?

So I got it for the art mainly and have been really suprised by how much I enjoyed the stories.
They're great, I mean there's not as much exterminating humanoids as you'd want, but they're cracking adventures of weird mutant anti-heroes exploring the universe so they can conquer it. I like my Daleks either being sneaky or shooting things, this leans into the sneaky. Really good fun.
Apparently David Whitaker (First TV Script editor) had a hand in writing them.
Reproduction work is stunning.
And there's an image of a Dalek destroyed by flowers that is just gorgeous.
For anyone who, like me, doesn't have the nostalgia factor I would still say well worth it.

yeah, love Pat's work, agree creators deserve more rights and compensation, but that was a bit grim
the Mcarthy exchange was hilarious though

Pat: Screw the comics establishment
Brendan: Yeah screw 'em
Pat: You and me Brendan we're the outsiders
Brendan: Yeah outsiders
Pat: Bloody Christians
Brendan: Bloody woke marxist lefty snowflakes
Pat:
Pat: yeah, well, I mean these debates are too complicated for Twitter, really aren't they? Night Brendan
Brendan: It's not complicated at all woke lefty scum ruling comics
Pat: ah, me tea's on, got to go m8

Music / Re: Zeal & Ardor - Devil Is Fine

I discovered this the other week. We play Fip while trying to get toddler to sleep and i have to try and remember key words from anything i like to try and find it again. The live album is pretty good.

On a different, but equally satanic tack is Morning Pageants by Delmer Darion, it's an industrial tinged folk record about the devil being banished from the imagination. I've found it weirdly haunting and bits are strangely lovely and i've been flipping between that and Devil is Fine.

Apologies for necro-post. I'm trying to avoid getting sucked into the horror of the news.

Would you rather have the Soul Sisters?

But more seriously, I'd re-run the first ever Middenface solo series from Vol 1 of the Megazine, written by Alan Grant and drawn by John McCrea. Don't think it's ever been reprinted and not sure why...

Shaky. Kane. Art.
Would love a Soul Sisters reprint. As part of a Shaky 2000 special collection.

McCrea Middenface would be good as well mind.

How do you find the Kevin O'Neill page?
I mean there's probably no way i'll ever be able to afford anything but it's nice to dream occasionally!

Wow, cheers Funt Solo, that's given me plenty to work from!

I picked up the first year and so far am enjoying them. Some good Wagner/Rennie Dredd, TPO in its original form, enjoying Fraser's art on The Family and 'What if... Slaine/Finn was from India?' and Time Killer and Darkies Mob are good reprint.

I don't have the money to buy every year.
Are their any particular vintage years I should look out for?
Or good JD or other storylines?

Thanks Tjm86, I do still want them if you have them. Cheers

Classifieds / Wanted: Damnation Station Floppies
23 April, 2020, 08:31:30 AM
Hi, does anyone have the 3 Damnation Station floppies that were with Megazine issues 414, 415 and 416 and would consider parting with them for about a tenner and the postage?

or does anyone know if they will show up in the Hachette collection at some point?
#13
You are indeed the first! Will get it in the post to you
Cheers SBT (R)!

Due to being an idiot I've accidentally brought 2 of the latest Doctor Who Mag, the 1976 special looking at Season 14. It's quite a nice publication, cover is mock fanzine style and there's imitation weetabix cards and a
Tardis diorama and free audio play and posters and stuff.

Full contents here https://doctorwhomagazine.com/doctor-who-magazine-550/

Since everything is awful if you or someone you know would be cheered up by possessing this then DM me address and I'll post it out as soon as I can as a present.

The winner is gorgeous in that retro sci-fi poster way. I've only just realised that it tells the story of Halo's journey from the Hoop via the Clara Pandy and Toby's attack to the war in a very skilfull leading of the eye. So it has a real emotional punch as well.
