Episode 63 finds me back in a noisy London pub with art expert Julius Howe to discuss the ABC Warriors Mek Files volume 2 by Pat Mills and Kev Walker et al. One of my microphones failed so the audio quality is not as good as I'd like, apologies, but the discussion is fun.

Listen in.

and here is Julius' grail pick by the great Kev Walker.
Hopefully Julius will share his version of this page later.  ;)

That truly is a lovely page. Think i didn't appreciate it at the time, I was still pining for Bisley.

Great podcast too - wonder what sms posted on Julius's Facebook page?

Books to come:

Otto Sump with Rachael Bullmore

On an unrelated note...

Anybody got a full list of Sump appearances - particularly after the 'golden' Ron Smith early eighties era?

Apparently Citizen Sump appeared in the Meg (volume 4, issues 12 and 13), plus a Daily Dredd newspaper strip (but which one?)

I'm not sure if it's complete, but there's a listing of his appearances on Barney. http://www.2000ad.org/?zone=thrill&page=profiles&choice=OTTO
Thanks - looks like there was nothing between Get Smart and Citizen Sump - guess all those billboard adverts in backgrounds made him seem more present than he actually was!

Santiago is back, all the way from Buenos Aires to discuss a pivotal moment for Dredd and his city. Santi's views on the Judge Child Quest were fascinating, tune in to hear what he has to say about the Mega-City One's handling of the mutants issue.
And there's a guest appearance from Santi's cat!

Fantastic stuff from a very perceptive guest:

'This is a masterpiece; a blueprint of how to do character-based drama. This isn't a bunch of stories where things just happen to Dredd.

They're stories where Dredd makes things happen, for him and for everyone else around him. These are stories about Dredd pushing against the world and how the world pushes back.

I would give this to anyone who's tired of plot-based stories, where characters are dragged around by the nose.

This is how to make an epic out of inner turmoil. This is how you can make a massive storyline out of one man's doubts and turn them into a problem for the whole world.'

Thanks, Frank. It's always a pleasure to listen to Santiago.

And here's his grail page by Carl Critchlow.

Thanks for running with this, Eamonn! Gonna require some careful thought to craft my two lists. I love a good top 10 poll, fingers crossed there's not too much misery when it comes to compiling all the data.

Decisions, decisions....going to be hard to narrow both down to 10.

Question: for Dreddworld stories that don't feature JD himself, such as Devlin Waugh or Anderson, which category do these fall into? Thanks.

Good question.

On the Facebook group we have decided that Anderson, Chopper and Devlin Waugh go into the Non-Dredd list please. Same for Cursed Earth Koburn, Missionary Man, Insurrection, Lawless etc.

And we've also said that continuing series with several books or chapters should be divided up
i.e Halo Jones book 3 or Zenith phase 1

Thanks

Great, thanks for clarifying Eamonn. The narrowing down process begins...
