The Metro gave The Sweeney four stars today despite pointing out in the review that -

"the plot's not much cop and the script doesn't merely embrace cliché, it buys it a pint and a bag of crisps – but check your brain in at the door and enjoy the chases, is my advice."

Hmm. Sounds great...

The review is peppered with "GERTCHA, lavverly jabberly" mockney which makes me imagine the voice of the office nob head telling me that Ray Winstone is a 'proper ledge'.

The Sweeney already has some attention-grabbing review quotes on it's ads though. Granted they're all from Nuts and Loaded, but it's the quotes that people will notice.

Was just on my way to link to this, but ya beat me to it! Glad I read through the past few pages to check that I wasn't repeating things. Of important note with this review is that she isn't a previous fan of the comics, is a very different demographic to the imagined tooth regulars, and she loved it. Nice one Dredd!

SIGHT AND SOUND gave it a really good review. No marks out of ten for their reviews but they name it as one of their films of the month.

They also have a nice article by the, admittedly slightly biased, Kim Newman.
