Games / Re: Bioshock 3

Had forgotten about the Left 4 Deads, though as you say it's more small comments such as "RELOADING!" that get bandied about, rather than the scripted action pieces that were in the video.

Looking at the video I'm thinking that this'll be the intro sequence which is why it is so scripted.  I should imagine the game will start properly once your character wakes up again after passing out (?) at the end of the video.

One final note: Anyone else think that the character was a Big Daddy variant at first? What with the heavy thumping footsteps that turned out to be, what can only possibly be described as, an automa-horse...

The same video is now on Xbox live as a freely streaming video.  It is absolutely breath-taking what the designers have acheived.

I was impressed the first time I saw Rapture in Bioshock (Bioshock 2 felt too much like re-treading old ground).

This just looks jaw droppingly stunning...

On a side note, what a difference actually hearing your character talk in an FPS rather than just being a swaying weapon. Is this the first time it's been done?  Certainly struggling to think of another one -poss Duke Nukem?

Never noticed that.  :D Will have to break my copy of the film for a look.

Classic mistake in trilogy for me is the stormtrooper banging his head in the first film.

I meant it more in reference to Leia's comment about Luke in the Stormtrooper outfit,
but having said that I've done a little google-fu and come up with the following picture:

I was suprised at how freakishly long Bossk's arms are!

Truly great news!  I look forward to getting my four year old nephew a copy (his uncle will be wanting his own copy) so that in thirty years or so he can come onto a forum like this one and recount his first experiences of Hookjaw.

Great job all round by all involved! Just a shame we have to wait until Feb 2011, but if it means more chance of this title being a success, then it has to be a good thing...

Oh but one thing that did standout. See that picture of Tharg above his editorial really doesn't fit with the tone of the piece does it. Looks like Tharg is going to have a right old rant and it starts as ever

"Borag thungg earthlets. I am the Mighty Tharg and I bid you welcome..."

Looks like he should be saying

"Quaequam Blag! I Tharg the Mighty have got a Rigellian Hotshot for some grexnix..."

... maybe Tharg is angry at me....

I thought he should be saying "Get off my land!"

I expected to see him offering me the opportunity to "rule the galaxy like father and son!"

I suprised she got away with it at all.  I thought she looked a little short to be a bounty hunter...

Other Reviews / Re: Oh contraire - Defoe and Greysuits
18 September, 2010, 09:24:55 AM
Sounds like all forms of popery to me (you gotta love the timing of the current run of Defoe, set during a time when crown and cross were very much set against each other and we have the current Pope over :D)

Anyway back on topic.  Not read Greysuits so can't comment there.  But I for one love Defoe.  Really enjoying the setting, zombies in the 1600's, great stuff!  What with plagues, hygiene issues the zeds fit right in.  The story is admitedly a little dense for it's own good at times, but nothing that a couple of careful reads can't sort out.  I like to have a story that take a little bit of work, it makes for a change of pace within the prog.  The one thing I always like about Mills is his historical research, the language is a little staged but feels right for the time.

The detailed inkwork really fits the mood of the piece, and most importantly in a story featuring zombies they all look suitably rotten.

and finally who can't like a story with a boss eyed character with a huge codpiece and the words Baebe Magnette on the back of his coat...

A blonde is looking at herself in a compact mirror.  She passes it to her mate (also blonde) and says: " The person in this thing looks familiar, have a look see if you recognise her".
Her friend takes the mirror and looks at it. "Of course she looks familiar!" She says, "it's me!"

------------------------

Boyfriend at home listening to the radio hears reports of a dangerous driver on a road he knows his blonde girlfriend to be driving on.  Feeling worried he calls her to warn her:
"Darlin' you need to be careful on the road.  The radio is saying there is some idiot driving the wrong way down the motorway, so watch out for a car coming toward you."
"There's not just one coming at me" she says, "there's hundreds of 'em!"

For me it's anything with the Arbatovs.  Always makes me smile when one of them comes swaggering into the strip only to have some form of rapid humiliating exit...
