Exactly why my x-flatmate DJ [do you know the DJ?] would refuse to play a track (he'd discovered as an independant production in an underground, backstreet vinyl vault) once it charted.

The 50s gave us rock 'n' roll, the 60s gave us psychedelia, the 70s gave us disco, the 80s gave us punk, the 90s gave us hip hop. *

What do we get in the noughties?  Wibbling.

Well, Romeo and Michele Stodart do look rather similar, but then I think the clue to that is in the surname.  The same goes for Angela and Sean Gannon.

As for hideous, well, if you're talking about looks, I think Michele is really cute and Angela is incredibly beautiful.

Plus, they're all really fucking talented musicians.

Of course, some people might argue that what we really need on the music scene is a bunch of musically talentless skinny teenagers that can learn dance routines, sing songs with no soul and make obnoxious already-rich producers even richer whilst adding absolutely nothing new to an already stale industry.

Anything was better than that f*cking atrocious wank-jazz.  And Jools Holland said it was good.  Reality is crumbling around me.

I once bought the cassette tape album of The London Boys.

Has anyone else got Music Of Shame?

Ah, well, I would surmise that the tiny jury of people were made up of members of the record-buying public, and were therefore (by definition)a load of brain-dead morons:  even if they thought they were of superior intellect.

What came first, the chicken or the brain-dead moron?

I've had two cases in my life where people have tried to slap (recorded) verbal warnings on me where I've not actually done anything wrong.  In both cases, I refused to counter-sign and explained my position clearly, whereupon they backed down.  (There have also been cases where, in the hospitality industry, I've been mis-treated and they haven't backed down: and there was no union.)

You know, the chances are that your employer knows f*ck all about employment law and bringing in the big guns (eg lawyer, union) could well shit him right up.  However, it's difficult to work in an environment where there has been that level of conflict (even if you "win").

In a recent example, despite succeeding in over-turning the immediate decision not to renew contracts, the end result is that the managment have become entrenched.  By hook or by crook (and legally, this time) they will get rid of those staff members:  it's just going to take them longer and cost them more.  There's no happy ending for one and all.

:: "educate themself on education law"

My brain playing tricks on itself there, as it should have read:

"educate themself on employment law"

(And even there, I'm using clumsy grammar to hide the protagonist's gender.)

Two of my colleagues who joined the union and started to ask questions about short term contracts found themselves out of work a year later.

Coincidence?

As for the union, they were useless.  The local rep kept asking managment what the rules were and taking their word for it.  Numpty.  In the end, it came down to one of the employees under threat to educate themself on education law and succeed in over-turning some of the managment position.

The saga continues.

You should seek Union advice (they may not be as half-arsed as the one I mentioned), but also educate yourself in employment law.  Oh, and start looking for a new job.

Yes - free all comics!

Without being mean:  I think your web-site could do with a little bit of re-design.  I too got bored and frustrated looking for the free download and gave up in the end.

Try testing it out on some friends that don't know it well.  Give them something to find (like that download) and see how long it takes them.
