Going to be showing a piece of art in a gallery here in Los Angeles. Bit nervous. Never showed something like this before. Theme of the show is fallen rock stars so naturally, Phil Lynott gets a shout-out. This is just a tight sketch done on the Cintiq. I've inked up one on bristol board for the show.

That's excellent, really captures something of Phil's well-known devil-may-care cheekiness.

That's Lynottastic :D Really gorgeous - wish I could visit the gallery!

Not long ago I bought a cheapo sketchbook and brush pen with the plan to knock out regular drawings. Got fed up with doodling on scraps on paper. I tried to manage a drawing a day but that's not going to happen so it will be a drawing every now and then. I've bashed out a few and here is the first, old stoney face of course. I've neglected drawing, especially on paper so hope to keep this up, time permitting. Not sure yet about the brush pen yet. I find the tip dries up quickly which affects quality of the line. By the time it's washed out that's half a cartridge of ink gone. I will persevere.

Thought I might as well post something. This was a poster from earlier this year that did the rounds in the borough. The competition that it promoted is long done but I'm told that people have kept the posters up because the kids like them - probably my biggest complement so far! Influenced by the work by e-boy, but in pixel dimensions about twice the size of their largest city scenes (I really did myself in by being a bit over ambitious, the damn thing took forever).

By the way, if anyone has advice on how to best display large pixel-art pieces on websites and make them easy to view, please let me know.

This was in the doodle thread yesterday, but decided to persivere and finish it up. I learnt quitea bit from doing this one completely digitel, so not a complete waste of time, eh. :)

Great work people.
JTurner – that is amazing. I am an admirer of eBoy. How long was forever?

Around 100 hours, I think. I worked on it on and off for about 6 months - it was supposed to be work-time only, but once I started I knew I couldn't justify the time so I put in about an hour a day when I could. They get quicker, though as you get to re-use assets from previous work. I'm thinking of doing a Mega City One, now...

DO IT!!!!!!
They say you need to spend money to make money, well I've never made any money so by that logic I've never spent any.

Darren Stephens Dredd really reminded me of Colin Wilson's cover to Prog 1253.

Kinda the same shot from a different angle kinda thing.

Darren Stephens

Wow, yeh. I love that cover. Colin Wilson was always a favourite of mine (still is!)

SuperSurfer : I love your version of Dredd. Just the right chin/face ratio!

JTurner : That pic blows my mind. You have some serious patience, sir
.
Blackmocco : Tremendous work, as ever. :)
