General / Re: Best tablet screen size / aspect ratio?

My preferred tablet would be the iPad Pro with a 12+ inch screen and 4:3 aspect ratio which is good for book pages. Since that's very expensive for me, I'd like 10-inch screen tablets with 4:3 aspect ratio like the current iPad & its lesser clones.

Welcome dear Dreddhead,

Just reading your IDW reviews and issue 7 has a beautiful line Do Dredd fans even look forward to the IDW issues anymore? Must say I do, in a perverse sort of way, as the enjoyment I get from reading this is quite unreal

My interest dropped when the "Long Fail" storyline ended and Dredd entered the Cursed Earth. I didn't like the unresolved plot threads. From what I've read from comichron.com's sales charts, IDW Dredd has steadily dropped and the December issue is a bit over 7,000. Last year, IDW Dredd was steadily over five figures.

Quote from: sauchieMy laptop's still being a diva as far as your site's concerned, but it works just fine on the tablet. Great site, Clarence, and there's a very interesting spread of culture represented there - Animaniacs and Husker Du! Careful bandying around terms such as Anglophile, though.
Ha! I'm reminded of the "Peter File" skit from... IT Crowd, is it? Thankfully, the way we say certain words in my neck of the words can't possibly be confused with someone's name or occupation.

Thank you. Like having comics I can read on a tablet while relaxing.

Tharg's PR team are fairly generous when dishing out comps and previews to the internetati, and they seem especially keen to do everything they can to promote the title in the US, so I'm sure you can expect a deluge of freebies for your trouble.

It does seem odd that US publishers seem so wedded to that format, especially since art's become such a selling point and there have been so many advances in areas such as reproduction and paper stock to improve the appearance of books, but I suppose the switch to digital makes such factors less important.

For some reason, I can't seem to access your site from that link, from your twitter, or even from googling. Odd. Anyway, welcome, and I hope you enjoy the time you spend fannying about here.
Thanks for the kind words, Sauchie.

I can think of why the Big Two won't move their formats: they're too risk-averse to do certain kinds of experimentation that would anger their corporate overlords. Also, I don't think they could market such a change to get enough people to care. This says I who yearns for a return to non-glossy paper.

I do hope you'll be able to visit soon, but I, being a bit of an Anglophile, want to get acquainted here and just chat about whatever.

I've written much about 2000 AD the past few years. After holding my copy of the FCBD 2013 Prog, I'm amazed that US comics have never embraced magazine-sized formats. Now I'd like to get to know this community.  :D
