'Joseph'!?

I've found occasions in print when Dredd is called Joe, but apart from the Stallone film, I haven't heard him called 'Joseph? I'm probably wrong, as I was referring from an old annual fact file where his full name is given as 'Joe Dredd'. I assume this has been updated to Joseph at some point in the comic?
