An interesting diversion- found this on Friday afternoon.

A *FREE* downloadable virtual Lego set.

The brick selection seems to be a little limited and there are certain brick combos it refuses to recognise but apart from that I'm seriously impressed with this bit of freeware.

If you actually want tangible, plastic versions of your builds you can upload the file to the site with the option to buy.

Perhaps alittle too short notice- but AFAIK I'm meeting up with Al at the Swan tomorrow (Monday 17th) for OK Comics' third Drink & Draw. Starts around 6.30-7 if you can make there.

Cheers,

Ol

They've got some lovely models (especially Star Wars craft) In the office windows in town here, and a MEGA HUGE Star Destroyer in Legoland itself.
Cheers

A bit of a necro-post, but I've finally built something I thought was half decent.

Lego is a design icon as it is timeless.I had a big box of it in the 70s.It also doesnt date.I had a habit of chewing the very small bits when i was at that age.Its good for kids as it encourages creative thinking.I got about as far as making as long a strip as possible out of the brick shaped bits or pyramids usually.

Things have got a bit more serious now.

I know Duplois the kiddies version, but when I was a kid I think I could've built my own shark.

This is just silly- why even bother with the brick?

I think I first saw this over on Bob ( Tales of Mystery) Byrnes Clamnuts site- some good pro-original lego ranting there

This is brilliant.

I have fond memories of putting together a official Lego Fire-Station building given to me for Christmas while I must have been between the age of seven and nine. ( This was before the company started making those Pirate ships with the prefab hulls.) Which I thought was a huge task at that particular time. Though I think it pales beside what Lego wonders can be built today. Just check out the Star Wars lego Death Star, Imperial Destroyer and Millienium Falcon being sold today.

Over time that Lego Fire Station took on many other shapes and sizes. I do recall cannilbalising it into what I thought would be a grand looking space ship carrying it where I went.

Afew years later I aquired the Luna Moon surface pieces with the pre-fab cratered surface serveing as a base.

The last time I ever got Lego was about alittle over ten years ago at a Role Playing Game's convention. ( Non Con 1994.) It was a trophy I got for being on the winning team. Looking back at the Black laquer base with the metal plaque and the small patch of green lego base stuck on to it. The little man standing on top, helmeted in black armor in the style of a medievil knight. Both hands,  one holding a sword, now broken Lying beside him. The other, the little piece of plastic snapped.

They don't make them like they used to.
