Brit-Cit Noir - Paperback, 7th April 2016, 96 pages.

The British equivalent of Mega-City One, Brit-Cit is a crowded metropolis that sprawls across southern England, the future Scotland of Cal-Hab and the South Welsh Peninsula. Buttressed by its own 'Cursed Earth', it is a bizarre vision of Britain old and new. Even before the Atomic Wars, Britain had more ghosts and ghouls per square miles than anywhere in the world - and now Brit-Cit is the focal point for an abundance of weird, occult occurrences. Detective Inspector Jericho Strange heads up the Endangered Species Squad - a unit within Brit-Cit's Justice Department charged with investigating arcane cases. His exposure to a supernatural artefact called the 'Black Mirror' has left him with a face his new partner, Becky Darke, will never forget...Meanwhile, Lillian Storm is a loner Judge who can talk to the dead - but what terrible secrets will she uncover in England's haunted north? Collecting Strange & Darke: New Blood & Storm Warning: The Relic.

Sooner or Later - Paperback, 7th April 2016, 96 pages.

1986. Thatcher's Britain. The financial 'big bang' saw the rich get richer. Riots errupt in prisons across the country. And Micky Swift is still on the dole! Disillusioned with his dour existence in dreary Camden, Micky's life is suddenly turned inside out, when he is plucked from the present and dragged into the 30th century as the property of one Mr & Mrs Katsbreath - a case of mistaken identity. Unwanted, trapped in the future and still unemployable, If Micky wants to return home (time travel isn't cheap you know!), sooner or later he will need to find a job!

John Smith, should you ever read this, please for the love of god give us more Strange and Darke.

James Stacey

Strange and Darke was awesome. Jury is still out on Storm Warning

Grant Goggans

About two years ago, I resolved myself to the story that Smith has some very sensitive government job, like Mycroft Holmes or something, and he only has about half an hour a day to write all the things that he should be writing for Tharg.  Either that or he's bored and actually doesn't like any of his characters anymore.  Either makes as much sense as they other, and they're equally tragic.

Considering they haven't officially announced it, maybe it's a little premature to declare one way or the other.

True, which is why I phrased it as a question.

Steve Green

My comment was aimed at Dweezil2, not your original question.

The Oz itunes version is HD, but they don't have to worry about higher mastering costs or narrowing the market that comes with producing a hard copy.

It may be limited to a DVD (The BBC sometimes release HD material on DVD only), depends how much extra it cost, or maybe they're just seeing how a DVD sells first.

It's all speculation until Stanton Media announce it properly anyway.

Steve Green

Apparently there's already an Oz DVD out

https://www.jbhifi.com.au/movies-tv-shows/movies-tv-shows-on-sale/documentary/future-shock-the-story-of-2000ad/761694/

People have already mentioned about the cost of getting stuff cleared legally - again, speculation that a BR might be dependent on this selling enough to justify it, and including that material.

JOE SOAP

Unlike the BBC's older releases needing money to remaster for blu-ray Future Shock is shot and mastered for HD so I'm certain it'll get a blu-ray release.

Or oddly in the case of Ken Russell's The Devils Warner's only allowed the BFI a region 2 DVD release last year because someone apparently in Warner would rather the film didn't exist at all - the film only lasted 3 days on itunes and never seems to get released in the US.

Steve Green

I'm not sure it's a certainty.

Inside No 9 was made in HD but only got DVD releases.
