Cheap Zombies? It's all to do with body poisture, surely? Heads lolling, broken arm, stiff legs, vacant eyes.

Lots of makeup to make the skin look pale is a good trick. Pale grey-tinted skin is the best look for the undead.

If you look at Dawn of the dead it's pretty obvious most of the zombies are just people with grey (or blue) skin.

With carefully chosen camera angles and brief fleeting shots of the undead it shouldn't be too difficult to make things look good.

and don't forget the Offal!

blood and guts are very cheap to buy from a butchers shop, and very effective for special effects!
