At least there's little risk of breaking a tooth on soup 😁

I've never had to queue that long for a sketch but I've had to leave my name & character and go back later that day to pick up a sketch especially if you are there right till the end (Dan Cornwell and Clint Langley are a couple had to come back for but they were well worth it. But most I've had sketched in front of you and boy it's amazing to see these things appear in front of you (Henry Flint and John Higgins are 2 that stand out among the many)
I'm managing around 4 sketches per day of attending.
But the talks and atmosphere are well worth it and I recommend a visit to Lyndon's table in the traders room for some cracking sketches.
Enjoy your day and wear a red carnation and I'll say Hi

I'll be making the trek from CalHab with the better half and she's not a comic buff but has always enjoyed the event. Su and her crew do an amazing job and make everyone feel welcome.

Quote from: The Bissler on 19 April, 2024, 11:36:55 AMCheers as always Trooper! Yes, it's the plan to keep publishing SD reports once a month for the foreseeable future (and same for Dredd reports) so, as we have plenty more in the pipeline, I'm delighted that you're still hungry for more!

Just love seeing the dynamics of the game and how the "baddies" can get the upper hand with a bit of luck

Another two cracking play throughs.

It's good to see that Alpha isn't always all powerful and the die can be a cruel mistress.

Looking forward to your next battle report.

Quote from: Mike Carroll on 05 April, 2024, 12:09:37 AMThat's fantastic! :) The Vex figure was very definitely one of my highlights of last year's Lawless, and Midnight is even better! Brilliant work as always, Trooper McFad!

Thanks Mike - Midnight is packing her bags to make the trip south this year as she's heard how good Lawless is 👍🏻😁

Thanks guys. I was sorely tempted to do a figure with an opening "mouth" but I couldn't (yet) get the hinge right to disappear when closed. But never say never I could always return and do another one

Great milestone Jim. Have a great celebration and I wish you and your good lady many more.

Happy Easter to those that celebrate and to everyone else happy Monday.

This is no April Fools!!

It's been a couple months since my last figure but I've been beavering away and my next one is ready.

It's just a coincidence that this character has just made a reappearance in the prog but a very welcome one in this Squaxx eyes.

This time I give you MIDNIGHT INDICATING SHAME to go with my previous figure of Porteus Vex.

Midnight was shaped with a kitchen foil core and covered with air dry clay. Her eyes, nose and mouth were added using milliput as well as her arms which have a wire core to add strength.
The eye lashes are made from cut offs from a previous model kit and shaped accordingly.

A little shaping and sanding and Midnight was ready for painting. This was one of the easier and quickest paint jobs I've done.

You'll see the usual stages and a couple of pics with her buddy Vex.

Enjoy

Wow Bissler that's some setup. As is the want of MC-1 sooo much going on in such a small space. Never a dull moment.
With such a setup you could have multiple clashes (games) going on at one time - would be chaotic but that's MC-1

Enjoyed the vid👍🏻

I need to do a full re-read and find out where the stories slide!
I have the first 30 (30 is the magic carpet one) and stopped buying after How Obelix fell into the the cauldron.
I haven't read any since the early 90s so it will be interesting how much I enjoy them.

I get how it could be funnier in French to the French - This is a French (Gaul) hero who is giving it to the oppressor so the language is for a local market- at the time I don't believe the writers could have imagined how world wide it would have went and maybe that's why the stories/wit slide as they go for a more global readership?
I have always thought that Scottish comedy (based on a Scottish character) written by Scots is funnier to Scots- same as Welsh for Welsh, Scouse for Scouse, Geordie for Geordie etc etc.
everyone still gets the jokes but the wording or specific phrases strike at the funny bone a little harder for those who it is aimed at.

Quote from: Trooper McFad on 29 February, 2024, 03:36:47 PMWhat scale is that?

Do you use an air brush for your sculpts?

Was that air dry or "baking" clay you used?

So many questions just trying to learn as much as possible from anyone willing to share.

Scale is about 3 quarter size, not far off full size.

For larger pieces I mostly use oil/wax base Monster Clay which comes in either, Hard, Medium or soft.

Hard and Medium are my go to clays. I favour the Hard for very detailed work as it holds the details well and is less likely to 'smudge' details as you work.

Then mould them in silicone or waste mould in plaster, then cast in resin.

Yep airbrush & traditional artist brushes.

For smaller pieces I use polymer clay (oven bake), Sculpey  is more consistent whereas cheaper polymer clay can feel oily/sticky, but it can be made more workable by leeching out some of the oil by sandwiching it between a couple of sheets of ordinary printer paper.

I also occasionally use water base WED clay for quick practice/ideas sculpts.

I never use air-dry clay as it drys/shrinks inconsistently causing cracks or misshaped pieces.

Hope that helps.

Great info - I know what you mean with air-dry clay.
If I had a larger work space then I'd like to try using the stuff you use.

I'm getting into making smaller parts for larger models and bringing it all together. Using Sculpey and pining parts together.

I will plod on using Air-dry clay as it has its uses for some of the models I try.
