is anybody else going to Thought Bubble this year. I loved last years and wish they would do it twice a year.
I'll be stopping at the 2000ad table, will there by any convention exclusives?
Thought bubble 2010 (http://www.superrobotmayhem.com/events/thought-bubble-festival/thought-bubble-programme-2010/)
I'm toying with the idea as I didn't make the best of it last year. The only question is after a busy October how many brownie points I have left to get a pass? Mind I could always persuade my wife its a chance to see her brother...
Really want to but the date always puts me off as November's disposable income is supposed to go on Xmas stuff... DAMN YOU SANTA!!! Money is a bit too tight unfortunately
Wife really pushing for us to go tho so might make it
I'd love to go to this. It's really near to where I live, cheap to get into and has quite a few artists/writers that I'd like to see.
Having no money to spend is a major minus point however, as last time I went I spent about 60 quid. I'm working on the missus though, I might get there yet.
Is there a 2000 AD table this year?
Buttering up the missus (metaphorically) worked! Got my ticket yesterday. Under 12's can go in for free too, so I'm taking my 6 year old son to help brainwash him into geekdom.
Anybody else going?
We'll be there.
I'm planning on attending. Even got a hotel booked like some kind of adult.
I'm coming, but I've never been before. What should I expect?
I'm the wife and son. Will I be able to plug the gaps in my JD Meg collection..?
Cannot wait myself a JRJR sketch then the art droids. My mate has booked a hotel so if I get too hammered in the Casino afterwards he might be woken up by me looking to kip on his floor.
Cheers,
Lee
I'll be there with the usual back issues but more importantly SGT MIKE BATTLE Volume 1 which collects issues #1-7. It's 280 pages long and only costs £12!!!
I"ll be there. Probably dressed as a Stormtrooper, with a couple of Judges (Minty stylie) in tow.
See you there.
I'll be there, alongside my trusty side-kick Micro bolt! All the latest comics for sale and the last few copies of Dark Judgement as well.

Only joking of course. ;)
I'll be there with the Galactic Knights costume group, photos welcome, we'll even arrest you if you want.
I really wanted to go, just haven't got the dosh to do it. :(
Anyone fancy a mini forum meet up for beer/s at some point?
I'm game for that. My budget is whack, but who needs food anyway.
The Geek Syndicate talk show is meant to be on again, and that was a blast last year. Before/ After/ During I'll be hitting the casino bar, but I hear Sgt Peppers is a good night? A few quid in then free drink?
Cheers,
Lee

Don't think I'll be able to manage a beer as I'll be dragging my 6 year old boy round with me. He's only coming because I've promised to buy him some plastic anime tat.

My missus is Japanese so we've got Totoro, Doraemon, Anpanman and Hello Kitty rubbish all over the house already. He's into One Piece and Dragonball now so I'll be on the lookout for some (cheap) toys.
That is a brilliant line up for a one day event!
If I was anywhere near the place I'd deffo be going.
Man I'd love a Spider-Man sketch from JRJR (hint! hint!).
All the best to those attending, looks like it's going to be a blast!
Malchi and I are going to be there on Saturday, and I'll be attempting to navigate the Leeds one-way system for the first time in the Wilsmobile. Looking forward to seeing peeps and catching up on stuff. I won't be getting any sketches, though, which guarantees I won't be kicking off in queues at the likes of Billy-Two-Sketches and The Amazing Captain Push-in again like the other year. Honest. :)

Man your kid must be so cute. Is the wife along for the ride 'n all? I think there are all of like 4 or 5 other Japnese people in the whole of Huddersfield, so she has been connecting with people from all over. I think she knows a guy in Leeds actually.
I think Nana is coming with me, so I'll have to keep an eye out for you, I'm just worried she may get a little bored. She is really into her art and manga but she doesn't really read in english besides uni work, so doesn't really know much about western comics.
My plan is to hit up all the 2000AD artists they don't get so much of a big que. I am going to bite the bullet and go straight for JRJR though.

She's coming but she's taking my daughter to the Royal Armouries next door as she's not that into comics. I'll look out for you and say hi if I think I've spotted you!

I really should be saving money, but it'll cost me less than £30 to pop over for the day, so I may just do that - depending on what happens friday night and corresponding hangover levels.
Will there be tickets on the door?
Yeah, yeah, I'm a convention noob, or whatever the cool kids are saying these days.

Saturday is the only day for singings/ sketches and the majority of the panels.
Sunday I think they do like a comic mart thing, and they do that 24hour comic book challenge tomorrow aswell.

Thanks for the info' and advise Mr. Brown, hopefully see u all in the queue for the JRJR signings. For ID purposes I'll be donning my red Ironman tee shirt (come and have a natter).
If you are a message boarder you must come by the FQP table and say hi. No exceptions. I'm not going to make you buy comics, but there are always folk out there who post after a con that they missed meeting with fellow boarders.
Arrr! Mr. Bolt of Zarjazz and Dogbreath fame. I'll def drop by your FQP table. What day, time slot and venue are you at? (hope it's the Saturday,... can't do Sunday! Sob! I'm working).
I'll call by. I'll be the 'camp' Stormtrooper... again.
Dracula- don't know where abouts I'll be, but Saturday all day I'll be there.
Minty- I think Microbolt may bring his clone helmet and Rifle this time- he wished he'd got it at Brum!
Cool, I'll give him a salute!
Hopefully my lad will be wearing his Mini Jango for a bit.

I won't be going, so to make up for it I am sending you John Smith. Keep an eye out for him as it is likely that he may upset the natives if people don't keep him busy by getting him to sign his work (you get extra marks if you make him sign his early Starblazers, Scarab #1 or whatever those Vampirella comics were ;) ) or making him pose for photographs or even buying him a pint. He should be easy to spot as you will feel waves of disquiet wash over you when are within 10 feet of him, plus he only has one arm. If you accidentally get other unnerving amputees drunk by accident then the world won't split open and cough up a stillborn abomination (or it won't increase the chance of this taking place - it is the best I can offer).
Bolt: Save me one of those Dark Judgements!!
Had a great day at this. Sincerely regret not bringing my camera.
Had a lovely time at this today and got some amazing sketches (as well as having sex with Al Ewing AND Bolt.)
I'll post my sketches tomorrow night and the results of the baby's DNA test will be on Jeremy Kyle in about 10 months time...
Snap! to the lovely day had!.... and I met some fine fellows who frequent this forum. Great line up of artists and comics too. I'd highly recommend this event to anyone for next year as a first time visitor.
Attached are a few picks of the day! Check out Darth Vaders huge dong shaped helmet (Urban's can't compete with that) and cod piece. Plus Dredd, Lord Vader and local West Yorkshire police team up to quell student and Cosplay unrest at the event.
Oh! . . . and 'Minty' shows Travis and Co. filming in South Africa how Dredd should look.
Awesome day, and good crack in the Casino at the nightime. Maybes Jamie Mckelvie should stick to his day job when it comes to his DJing though :|
Cheers,
Lee
Had a great time. Brought loads of tat and goodies including a page of original Timulo art, that i thought would be long gone, and spoke to loads of folks who do smallpress and online comics for tips and hints.
That said I went to the Zarjaz table 3 times and met exactly zilch boarders (bar the mighty Queen Bou who I bumped into at the Omnivistascope table) so there. Bolt and RAC don't count.
Also managed to pop into Memorabilia at the NEC on the way home. Bonus.
Fuck me, can the edit function last about an hour at least?
There's a smiley missing from the end of the second paragraph^. I had a great time, period.

I met a couple, but Minty wasn't too hard to miss was he. Was anyone in the casino at the night time? It was more busy than last year, but creator-wise I only saw Al Ewing.
I did meet Barry from geek syndicate again who still remember me heckling him last year... Oops. And Andy from Dissecting Worlds. I'll have to start giving his podcast a listen, sounds pretty intresting.
Oh and thanks to Bolt-01 for the Mognrol sketch haha. Dark Judgement wasn't a bad read either.
Cheers,
Lee
Nice to see Richmond and Queen Fiery Bou, and Bolt and microbolt and Lee and that gorgeous boy Wells. And Leigh Gallager and Al Ewing briefly. I never seemed to get time to talk to anyone for very long the day went so fast but my first con with a child went really well. She loved meeting Judge Dredd, she got very excited telling him that he was the law creep! Nice if tiring day.
It was nice to meet you Stacey! And that Bolt and Richmond are friendly chaps too. I met quite a lot of splendid people at various tables, notably Paul Scott at the Omnivistascope table, Graham Pearce of Mike Battle fame and the lads at Deadstar publishing.
The only creators I met were Leigh Gallagher, who is a lovely, lovely bloke who did me a free manky zombie sketch and sold me a signed copy of Defoe, and Al Ewing who I caught off guard reading a comic and bombarded him with complements. The poor sod.
I also got a copy of Mezolith signed by the artist Adam Brockbank with a little sketch inside. He's a lovely bloke too and Mezolith is probably the best comic I've read this year. It really is that good.
Said hello to Minty too who confessed he couldn't see me out of his Stormtrooper helmet! And got a great pic of me being arrested by Judge Dredd.
It was a fantastic day out which my kids and I really enjoyed. I'll post some geektastic pictures this evening.
I like tThought bubble, it is a grand little show and as I've said before- it has the most diverse range of product of any gig in the country.
It was great to see so many folks from here, though not all at the same time- and some only fleetingly. I only saw Al for about two seconds as we passed and Wils (with Malchi) only made it to the table for long enough for me to say Hi to him.
I really enjoyed seeing all the boarders kids as well, though I think Mini-Satchmo takes the award for being the youongest.
I was the first to speak to D'Israeli that day- and Leigh Gallagher was as gracious a chap as any you could meet (Got a pressie for you, Sharky).
However, my highlight of the day came right at the end- Boo Cook gave me his pencils for the Something Wicked Cover! What a guy!
All in all a really nice day- maybe it needs to be for a weekend in future?
It is extended next year I believe.
I love Thought Bubble but there is some sort of wibbly wobbly timey wimey thing that goes on in the hall because the day flew by too quickly. The hall was so busy that it was a struggle to get around. I only managed about 2 laps through the whole day and even then I didn't have time to stop and talk to anyone (sorry if anyone thought I was being rude). If the rumours of 2011 being a 2 day affair then I cannot wait! (I still think the best time of BICS and Bristol is very early on Sunday morning when everyone's still in bed and you can look around when its quiet).
It was great to see Stacy and The BFC bring along the next generation. And does anyone else think that Bolt-01 and Micro-Bolt should dress up as Jango and Boba Fett next time?

I hope a video of that goes up somehwere, I really wantred to go. But I was lucky enough to be number 23 of the 25 sketches he did. He and his wife really are nice people. The 25th guy in the que had to leave around half way through the day, and he was in a wheel chair, obviously given how busy it was it was going to pretty hard for him to get back to see him in the afternoon when he was sketching. So he did the it in advance, despite his hectic schedule.
Plus it was awesome to hear Dr Strange was one of his favourite characters.

Lee

That's me doing an impression of my Stickleback sketch! I asked Matt to do something I could put on my covers blog, it was his idea for me to photoshop a cover inside the page Stickleback holding. I'm gonna do that but I also think I'll photo that photo in a few times like some kind of optical illustion that goes on forever...
Oh, and I'll scan all my sketches after I've done the pots.

Here's me being arrested by Dredd at Thought Bubble, apparently for the crime of having 2 chins...
Great to meet everyone- particularly the youngsters, even though Dylan began to cry real tears when I had a turn at him- but at least I didn't have the same effect Stacey had on the boy!
Can't wait until next time!

Maaaan, that boy HATED me! It's the effect I have on most boys, he was too little to do the running away part that usually comes after teh screaming! :-)
Okay my lovelies, here are my 'sketches' in order of when I got 'em, with how much I paid for each...
For starters, this beautiful Peter Doherty painting. It was amazing watching him work.
Price: A handful of sheckels, a cuddle and some out of date crisps.
Next, this erm... beauty by Al Ewing.
Price: To be honest, Al got his girlfriend to pin me down while he violated my sketchbook with this filth. S'great though, innit? Excellent vein-work...
Moooving on, Gary Erksine did this beauty, despite 'not being confident' drawing Dredd!
Price: Two camels, a backrub and a Tina Turner Tape.
Next, an absolute hero of mine, Kev Walker, did this beautiful Dredd...
Price: A Chinese burn and a feel of my tummy.
I bothered Dean Ormston next and got this Dredd pencil sketch as he'd lost his markers.
Price: A presentation bath set and a song.
D'Israeli was a lovely chap who did me this Stickleback for my covers blog. He suggested I Photoshopped a Stickleback cover in the Prog he's holding.
Price: To stop humping his leg and to adhere to the laws of the restraining order.
Finally, the very lovely Boo Cook did this Dredd Un(Manhole)Covered drawing. It was great seeing the pleasure he got from drawing it (some employee guy was trying to shoo us out of the hall but Boo just kept on drawing) and when he'd finished actually said "I f*cking love drawing Dredd!" A genuinely lovely guy.
Price: I could only show you by pointing to parts of a teddybear...
I had a wonderful time, my only regret was I got the chance to briefly speak to Leigh Gallager but never got a sketch so was gutted... However, watch this space as I may well have something VERY exciting to show you later in the week! I will say no more...
Cheers for sharing Mr Wells - bloody hell I feel silly about not coming up - D'Israeli AND Kev Walker?!
*head + desk = clear shame*
Only dissapointment of the day was I jumped out of the Kev Walker qeue to go back to get my JRJR sketch; only to find out he was doing them strictly in numerical order and I could cut into my place ahead of the guys only after signings at any time :'(
Never mind, and I`ll throw up my sketches soon.

Lee

Bit late for a review, but I just wanted to say I had a brilliant time at TB2010.
It's got a great vibe and a superb guest list. As mentioned I was dressed up as the Stormtrooper and was accompanying Vader and the Judges. The crowds were a lot of fun. The guys dressed as Judges were laughing about how many people wanted to be beaten up in photos. ;)
I picked up a superb commission by Nigel Dobbyn, which I'll post a picture of when I get a chance to scan it in.
The only down side was that it went so quick, and when I actually caught up with people I didn't get much of a chance to chat (mainly due to Stormtrooper restrictions ;)) and when people did say hello they were just blur due to the visor fog. Sorry if I was a bit vague.
I was absolutely knackered by the end of the day, it would have been good to have had a longer chat with people.
It's not surprising that at lot of reviews refer to this as the 'best convention'.
Steven
P.S. my son won a prize for his Jango costume which he was very please about. He picked a very 'interesting' Japanese cartoon, which although PG will no doubt warp his little mind.
Ha Minty, you've just reminded me of the most surreal moment of the day! I was standing minding my own business when Lord Vader, accompanied by Stormtrooper Minty, menacingly walked towards me, stopped, leaned right into my face and said...
"Can you tell me where the ice cream stand is?"
