To tell the truth, you can all get screwed.

I've been thinking that we should have this particular psycho back for ages but definately with the 'making him cool again' treatment, a la Judge Death.

I'd like to see him get a really nasty, scary gang of Cursed Earth muties together and commit some real atrocities before posing a distinct threat to MC1 or a leading character. Problem is that sounds a bit too much like the Death stuff now.

Bring back Mean! But make him erm... Mean!http://www.director-file.com/cunningham/mean.jpg">

My first 2000ad, many moons ago was some story about the Angel Gang fighting a naked Dredd (who bathes in his helmet) involving the devil (who apperently Dredd has cubed

anybody tell me what issue that was?

I`m with you on that one.  His last few one offs have been terrific.  More, more, please!
I reckon we will see more of him sometime.

It'd be nice to see Mean back, but I really, *really* want to see some new & interesting mega-villains introduced.

Nero Narcos? Crystal Skull? Armon Gill? Not fit to lick the boots of Warlord Kazan or to serve Mad Judge Cal... :-)

The Enigmatic Dr X

Well surely there's a story about a reconciliation with his missus? (I think her name was Two Tonne Sadie Suggs or something similar). Remember her? THey got hitched in the 1984 Dredd Annual, and she double crossed him on a bank job then dumped him by bopping him on the head with the maul she carried about.

Classy burd.
Lock up your spoons!

Yes, but it happened.  Whether you like it or not, it happened.  And they were good characters.  And there is a story to be had there.  What's the point of embarrassing even Tharg with THAT storyline, only to let it lie, like a stinkin' haddock, over the overripe fish counter of 2000ad continuity?

"I think her name was Two Tonne Sadie"

Two Pound-weight of the hammer she used.

I may be wrong but I seem to remember it was mentioned in Son of Mean (a quality tale) that Sadie carked it. Sad, perhaps she could be pulled out of a lava pit too... oops!

I dont think she was dead, she'd just had enough of the boy....

How about...

Mean and a bunch of other hardcore mutants (fire breather, chameleon, on covered in detachable blades, slimy acid touch one, etc) break into Mega City 1 and start a rampage, managing to turn an entire sector into a war zone between themselves and the Judges. Dredd manages to do his thing and take down the majority of the mutants, leading to a high speed chase across the city, as Mean and a couple of others break out in an school bus. Dredd manages to drive them off the highway leaving Mean hanging onto a railing. Dredd walks away from him, ignoring his pleas for help, letting him fall to the city floor below.  The whole episode is made worse however when it turns out that Mean & Co's rampage was merely a diversion, someone has stolen the head of Sabbat the Necromagus and the trail leads deep down into the undercity itself...

Yay or Nay?

Dudley

Please dear God let us never see the abomination that was Sabbat the Necromagus again.
