Like the title says: Forbidden Planet are selling their 2000AD books at a discount at the moment. I just stumbled across the offer by accident!

Dan Dare will return for a new adventure soon, Earthlets!

What's this about then:

I didn't think this had been released. Is this a placeholder until volume one sells well enough to warrant this release, or have I just been dead wrong about that initial supposition.

It was the second hardcover collection of Red Seas originally solicited in 2005 (I believe), then 2007, then... nothing:

I assumed this was round about the time they stopped producing sub-100 page hardcover "albums" but I am surprised they never restarted the Red Seas trade paperback publications just with longer page counts - is it assumed it wouldn't sell, despite supernatural pirate adventures doing rather nicely in the cinema that whole time. As far as I'm aware it is the only long-running ongoing series of recent years (the Rebellion years perhaps) that hasn't got an ongoing trade paperback series churning the books out. All very odd, specially as The Edge is a well-known name in American comic book circles, which would help shift a few units.
if I went 'round saying I was an Emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!

alot of the FP stuff is using the old trade place holders - hell Button Man 1 even gets 2 entries with 2 different names / titles. All very confusing when trying to work out if they had Vol 2 listed (they don't appear to) alongside Vol 1,3 & 4.

Great spot tho (people should note the link ISNT to the cheapest price GNs - go to pg 2 of the list and the prices start at 7 quid.).

If I'd known it was harmless I would have killed it myself.

They did. There's one volume in paperback, but according to Keith Richardson in the ECTB2000AD podcast interview it didn't sell well, so it's unlikely there'll be a second.

The Red Seas needs a casefile type package. Some GNs just don't seem good value in terms of page count and B&W art can sorta 'multiply' that. Much as I LOVE The Red Seas AND ButtonMan their pagecount / price points never made the GN's desirable. The sale in the original post has allowed me to pick up 2 ButtonMan GN's at a reasonable price and I'd be buying up multiple Red Seas Casefiles-format if they published it. The Red Sea's has a real cross-over potential due to its very 'un-2000AD' nature.

Ah, cheers for the clear up.
