Thanks for the nice review. I had a blast writing The Strangelove Gambit and I guess that shows in the book. As for that character name that made you groan in the first chapter, that's not my pun. Check out the final episode of the Tsar Wars saga (Prog 1262, IIRC), when Dante mentions his mentor's name in conversation...

Good review - Mr. Bishop must be pleased.

I've never bought any of these Black Flame books, but you almost tempt me...

I'm enjoying Prophet Margin, I might get this one too. And I've heard good things about the ABC book too.

I've just finished Nikolai Dante: The Strangelove Gambit and had to post on here to say: buy it!

I never have high expectations of these novels and probably wouldn't have read this had I not won it in a competition.  And that would have been unfortunate, because this is bloody brilliant!

Bishop's really got under the skin of both the lead character and his world, and produces an adventure that's equal parts action, comedy, dirty (though not very dirty) bits and tragedy.  Exceptional pulp fiction - recommended.

Agreed - it's the best of the 2k novels I've read.
